ok, in pod, when allana is talkin to cadsuane, and allana channels, the hair peice gets cool, or cadsuane notices the hair peice is cool. is it the same kind of terangreal that mat's medalin is? that could be one reason why she has faced so many false dragons, and is not scared at all of seamingly any aes sedai. i dunno, mabey this theory has also been ground to dust, but it just occured to me that that could be the case. let me know what you think

i dont know, but if its a chopstick-type hairpiece it would be a lot easier to make into a weapon than mat's medallion.

those gholam freak me out, so im always looking for ways that they will be taken care of in the future. what id really like to see, however, is a channel-free staff/spear and to see mat go kick some ass. maybe he'll find one when he goes to seanchan (another prediction of mine)

Here's an idea, hack the dang thing into little itty bitty pieces then burn the peices! or strick it with lightning or open a skimming doorway get him to follow you, then dissolve the platform, form a new one, leave him to die, or go to the world of dreams in the flesh and kick his ass. Or Mat could try explosives.

ok, anyway, other than theory's about how to destroy golem(pick up verry large amount or rock, perferably one solid, large peice, and smash the gollem to pulp multiple times) i think that her hair thing are little medalions. my frined came up with a theory that there were only two terangreal that were made to stop channeling from affecting a person, and mat has one and caudasine has the other one, along with terangreal that helps her detect channeling and the sorce therof<

Cadsuane's hairthingy MAY be a ter'angreal that does the same thing as Mat's medallion. May, but I hope not. I like to think of Mat's ter'angreal as something that the *finn's did themselves (I can't remember which *finn's they were!). If the Aes Sedai could make Ter'angreal that protected against being channeled on, while not preventing the bearer from being able to channer his/herself (Obviously Cadsuane can still channel), why wouldn't there have been made a gazillion of the kind while they were at it? Why e.g. didn't everyone who fought in the War of the Shadows have one, to protect against the other side?

Nah, I don't want any more super amazing protective ter'angreal to surfice right now. The one that Alivia borrowed from Nynaeve that protected her against Cydane/Lanfears fire ball was abit annoying e.g. (and how did Alivia get her arm seared by fire later on??)

Asto "the gholam problem": Really, I don't see how anyone who can channel could have any difficulty with a gholam, appart from the element of (being) surprised. Can't make it burn? Just make the ground under the gholam burn really hot! Can't smash it with a flow or air? Like David/Judas, just pick up a big rock and smash it, hold a big ax with a flow or air and chop the gholam up with that (should be able to chop as fast as thought, right?). And then there is that classic openupagatewayrightupthecrackofgholamsarse idea:)

or just hit the dang thing with lightning! Remember book 5?

Yea....though that makes me think....how well does a Gholam conduct electricity? No blood and all that...

Good point. However if it doen't conduct electricity well then a sufficeintly powerfull blast of lightning(or several of them) should case enough heat to make it melt( because of the friction). I have another question. What is the radius of a Gholem's power negating feild. Mat's was only a few inches but its may be larger, and does it act like a cirlcular feild from the center of his body(or other point) or does it act like numerous feilds or just one similar to a gausian feild (the ones you use to calculate electric feilds and such)

I dont think the rock thing would work, cos the thing can fit thru a mouse hole. couldnt it just make itself flat or something? the other ideas would work tho

Maybe it it's big enough? Or somewhat sharp, cutting the gholam (in two?)
And GWINNA, it's not that such creatures don't excist, you just don't have a big enough blather to carry off the task:eek:

Don't forget that not everyone can make ter'angreal. Recall Elayne said "very few sisters had the knack". That explains why anti-channeling ter'angreal aren't all that common. Basically all objects of the Power are pretty rare.
And no, I don't think you can open a gateway into a gholam's arse: the weaves'll just dissolve. Lightning sounds like the best option. You know it'll be vaporized at the end of it.

I don't think electrical comductivity is the point. Lightning has enough voltage to blast anything to hell. Trees don't conduct well, & yet they get roasted. Same thing for anything else hit by lightning.

Man, I forget, which one of you thought of smashing the Golem with a rock? What is that?!
Come on man, nothing dies because of a rock! (yeah right.) What we need is Mr. T! He's helluva tough and would sock that Golem strait up into space.
Or maybe not. The point is, I think Mat needs to bust out with a little common sense. His ter'angreal hurts it, right? tape it to the end of a long pole, and prod the thing to death.
Even if the Golem didn't die, his self esteem would be so shaken that he wouldn't dare show his face in Randland again.

I'm sure rocks'll kill the gholam. It's not invulnerable, you know. Unless of course, it slides out of the way, since it's so very flexible. I don't think Mat's ter'angreal will do much good as it's too small. Need a man-sized version of it to work. And what makes you think the gholam'll just stand around waiting for Mat to stick his medallion onto its eye?

...uh...duh! The Golem won't have any say in it! Man, with Matt's luck goin for him, the Golem is more likely to die of old age before actually killing Matt. Matt will have all the time in the world to prod the fool to death. In fact, all Matt has to do is hold his medallion up and the odds are that the Golem will walk right into it and accidentally die ever so slowly.
Man this fight is like Coach Ditka vs. a bus full of Nuns. It's already unfair.

Yeah, right. And all the bad guys that Mat ever encounters will die too, because his luck ensures he'll kill all of them soon. Why hasn't THAT ended the bloody WOT series ?! Get real.

ok i don't own all the books so correct me if i am wrong(cause i can't check) but .....
did mat even try to use his spear on the golem cause i thought it went somthing like he saw that weapons weren't working after he tried to throw a knife at it...........so maybe his spear will work and he doesn't know it.

It too has been a while since i've read the series, but i believe that when mat went off with Ew/Ny to find the bowl he had to leave his spear at the palace...so since he hasn't used it to fight one, maybe it would work (it being power forged and all)
BF's a man???? I always thought he was just some spirit imbodied in the pure essence of the bale fire...hmmmm:rolleyes:

Mat had his spear with him, but it didn't work...becuase he didn't succeed in actually sticking the blade into the gholam. As I remember, the gholam caught the spear (not blade) with his hands and flung/spun Mat across the room. I.e. he held onto the spear...and so did Mat...then the gholam spun, sending Mat flying. I think...

Why the hell didn't the gholam just dodge the medallion? Are there limit's to it's speed?
here's my ExtraOrdinary Theory (TM): remember when some forsaken thought about myrddraal? according to Aginor they were out of phase with reality. I think it's the same with mat's ter'angreal and the gholam. The myrddraal & gholam are so fast because they can see something coming before it comes. EXCEPT things that are also out of phase!
Hmm, has anyone thought about this before? Havn't seen any.
But that means.....
Yesss a brand new subject!

I don't think the gholam knew in advance that the medallion would hurt it. Remember its thoughts that until it encountered that medallion, there was nothing that could hurt it?
That out of phase thing has to do with Myrddraal casting no shadows & reflections, & having cloaks that hang dead-still in the wind, & being able to teleport via shadows. It also explains Darkhounds leaving no pawprints except in stone. The speed of Myrddraal & gholam is just built into them. I think gholam are in phase with the world like most things.

Someday I'd like to come across a creature that can only be killed by pissing on it.
One of the level's in 'Conker's bad fur day', lets you kill others by pissing on them. Forgot which one, but it's the bathroom section.
The game is on the n64 console and it's hilarious and fun to play.

And lets not get onto the gholam can see thing before it happens.
Next thing you know, gholams will be taking part in Ebou Dar horse races, and have mitichlorian counts higher than the dark one! ;)
