View Full Version : Just some random stuff..

Emma-Jayde

This isn't fantasy art...But there's not really anywhere else to put this, and I'd been talking to some people about these random sketches.
I usually can't draw hands or faces, and if I actually try to draw something, I can't do it... So these are all done at random times while doing nothing in particular.

And another

Emma-Jayde
7th May 2006, 20:08
I do everything in pencil too...Can't work with colour. :p

Emma-Jayde
7th May 2006, 20:09
That's all for now. This one's a tad more blurry that the others...Don't know why.

Borderlander
8th May 2006, 05:49
I usually use pencil and avoid colour when I draw too. I always seem to have trouble getting the porportions right when I draw people, but you don't seem to have that problem. Very nice work!

Thanks BL.
These little guys have been staring at me from my bookmark for quite some time...I drew these from memory a couple of months ago. I wonder if anyone can recognise them? :p

woah! those are good! i especialy like the last one! try and practice on the way you make lines though - not trying to be a jerk, it s just constructive criticism - practice on making longer continuous lines that are smoother - yours are somewhat imprecise i notice, but the result is still, good though, you have lots of talent - i m telling you this because i had the same advice from a chick on another forum and it REALLY helped me a great deal!

i hope you re not pissed and that i didn t insult you by saying this, i m just trying to be helpful - i myself apreciate any swort of advice i recive ... i m also going to post a thread with my stuff and i expect to get roothless (ruthless ..oh, i don t know) critiques from everyone ;)

Emma-Jayde
14th May 2006, 22:50
That's ok, but I guess it's how I've always drawn...I'm probably not going to change that now. It's just for fun, not like I'm ever going to make anything out of it.
That last one though, and these next 2 (Who I drew in English one day, there was a poster of Blinky Bill on the wall...) were originally drawn in that style, so I kept is as it was...
I was also drawing on the edge of the page...so there's only half the Aussie flag there...And Blinky is kind crooked... :p

Emma-Jayde
14th May 2006, 22:56
Ok...So the first of these never got finished...And I don't like the second...Couldn't get the front legs proportioned right, so it looks a tad weird...

I gave up after drawing the head :p

Edit : Whoa, the scan came out looking pretty dark too.

Thanks Dig!
Ok, I don't know if any of you have read Ian Irvine's "A View form the Mirror" quartet...But this is sort of how I envision the character Maigraith from those books.
Minus the nose...I can't draw people's noses or mouths very well :p
And yeah, it has some colour in it! *gasp*
I also didn't have a colour I'd describe as 'carmine', so her eyes are purple...

Tidus

Alright both are amazing drawing Em, but this sentence has to be one of the funnest things i'v read in awhile.

Thanks guys! *hugs all*
Found this one the other day while I was cleaning up some stuff.
It was another English lesson...Can't you just tell I paid OH so much attention? :p
It wasn't finished properly, lessons weren't quite long enough.
I love donkeys... They have sweet little noses and ears and tails

Yeah, I've not been bothered so far to set up this computer with the scanner... So until I do there's no more random drawings :p

Buuut this is the cliff thing at the end of Nobby's Beach with the funny looking building on top, and the 2nd is looking out from the start of the Breakwater.

Emma-Jayde

I..um.. Thanks?
I'm not sure I know what you mean about literature though?

So I was digging through some photos, and found this one. It was taken Easter Sunday, 2004. It's the church we sang in in Tepoztlán (town outside Mexico City). The picture isn't the best, and we weren't allowed to take photos inside, which is a shame because it was absolutely beautiful.

Please note: total boredom. So much boredom. And I can't get at the scanner to put in any more drawings. (Actually I just can't be bothered)

http://img138.imageshack.us/img138/213/picture040bwmzi2.jpg

http://img183.imageshack.us/img183/5585/picture042bwmao6.jpg

And no, I don't write. Well, when I say I don't, I actually do, but nothing I like so therefore nothing that anyone will ever read. Except my poor senior English teacher who had to put up with 2 years of my useless dribble. Actually, I take that back. He was an absolute *insert nasty and demeaning words here*

And there will be no posting of an mp3. There's a few people here who have been subjected to an old clip, but it's poor quality and I'm a perfectionist. I don't have the right equipment to do a proper recording. Actually, I possibly wouldn't put it here anyway....

Emma-Jayde
24th September 2006, 22:15
One of the grevilleas we have in the front yard. They're great, because they're natives and don't need watering :D
We have other red, yellow, lighter pink and orange/yellow ones too :)
That's on the smallest plant- About 1.5m or so high. The ones we have range up to about 6-7m.
And the birds love em. :)

digeon83
24th September 2006, 22:18

Emma-Jayde

Hehe, there's millions of them over here at the moment :)
But we apparently don't have "normal" flora and fauna by some standards :p

what kind of camera do you use?.... i can never get mine to focus on bees/butterfly wings.

but i do love taking pics of flowers. this is the first one i happened to dig up on my comp... i've got some new ones from camping a few weekends ago that are pretty neat. i'll save em for when i'm not so tired. :p

Emma-Jayde
26th September 2006, 23:31
Ooh, that's gorgeous!
Heh.. The flower photos were taken with my Dad's Canon Powershot S1 1S (http://www.everythingav.com.au/product.asp?productid=1821). I love that camera...
The others I took with my Canon Powershot A60 (http://www.steves-digicams.com/2003_reviews/a60.html).

Taking pictures of flowers is fun though :) And there's so many around here at the moment.

Emma-Jayde

This one, I like. Mostly. I was workig off a photo to get some things right;

http://img134.imageshack.us/img134/7976/scan10027afo7.jpg

This one, I don't like. Again using a photo. I might redo it later, but don't hold me to that;

Emma are those drawings done in charcoal? The lion is impressive especially the way the eyes are done.

Emma-Jayde
5th October 2006, 15:49
No, they're done in pencil. For some reason some of the scanning comes out darker than the actual pictures.
Me + charcoal = lots and lots of mess.
Black stuff everywhere. :shattered

And Cigarillo- The photos I take are pretty much never thought about. It's more like "Hey, that looks cool! *click*"

Pretty boat out on the lake before I went into my singing lesson :)
I actually have a drawing of a boat that I wanted to post, but the scanner has finally decided to pack it in.

(About bloody time, too. I've been suggesting for 2 years that we get a new one that's compatible with Sibelius 3 so if I want to transpose something, I can just scan it in. :D But that's an entirely different matter.)

Alexia
17th October 2006, 19:10
You should make your own thread, cigarillo.

Emma-Jayde
18th October 2006, 21:50
Lexi is right, cigarillo.
And it's hardly responsibility. You just post in it whenever the hell you feel like it.

Emma-Jayde
28th October 2006, 04:27
slight corruption of a fav Pink Floyd line of mine as well, "...start playing different tunes" is the actual wording
I'm well aware of that. The change was intentional.

Emma-Jayde
28th October 2006, 07:39
Emma, please, why the prim stance?...
What 'prim stance'?
This is me, how I am, and if people do not like that then it's their problem, not mine. :dozey:

The slight change to that lyric is a reflection on something; If you were not there you will not understand it, hence I didn't go into any detail.

Emma-Jayde
6th November 2006, 05:12
Cigarillo! You had your own thread! Why not use it instead of this one?!

Arathelle
6th November 2006, 07:50
Cigarillo, it's usually considered very rude to post songs or pics etc in somebody else's thread, unless they've given you permission. And not to be harsh or anything, but when I visit this thread it is because I want to see Emma's pics and drawings, not your (at least partially) incoherent rambling. So please keep that to your own thread. Thank you.

Emma, any new pics for us soon? :) They always make me want to go to Aussieland, it seems so nice and summery. And excotic, our own flowers seem kind of ... pale compared to those you find 'in the backyard'. :p

Arianna Sedai
7th November 2006, 00:25
Cigarillo, it's usually considered very rude to post songs or pics etc in somebody else's thread, unless they've given you permission
i'll have to disagree with that snippet. i've posted several pics in this thread without permission and i don't think that to be rude at all. i think, unless its a thread titled as a user's personall gallary, then it is ok to post in there.

if you get a neg reaction or are asked to stop, by all means, do stop. but otherwise i fail to see the issue.

Arathelle
7th November 2006, 01:37
Ok, sorry if I've misunderstood the rules here, it's just that on most other forums I've been a member of, pictures and songs posted in somebody else's thread just like that would be deleted, and the person given a strict warning never to do it again.

Anyway, those pictures you posted very kinda more a comment to Emma's own, and she obviously didn't have anything against it, while I find Cigarillo's to be random and not having anything to do with the rest of this thread. In addition, both Emma and Lexi have asked him to start his own thread, which I would take as a negative reaction. But I can see why you would disagree with 'the snippet' in general, it seems to be much looser here on wotism than most other places.

Emma-Jayde
7th November 2006, 06:24
I agree with Ari and Ara.
Ari's pics were along the same lines as mine, and they were great to compare. I don't have a problem with that.

Ara... You'll get some new pics... Soon. When I take/draw some more.
Might not happen in the next few weeks though :D

And yeah! Come to Aussieland! It's where all the cool kids are! :p

Emma-Jayde

So it's been a while. Oh well.

I drew a frog, but the scanner is broken. We need a new one. I might have mentioned that before, but I can't be bothered going back to check.

Here's another photo of Newcastle instead. I haven't taken any new ones of late, I've been busy with more important things.

I can't believe I never saw this thread until today. Emma-Jayde, your pencil artwork is wonderful! I used to do pencil art and people always gave me the most horrible time, so I think the way you got the proportions right on the ballerinas was amazing (especially the one you did in a moving vehicle - I can't even write anything legible while driving, can't imagine drawing anything that looked good like that did).

My favorites were the horse and the lion. That's a difficult angle to draw a horse from and have the proportions come out that well. The lion is gorgeous, very well done.

Hope to see more of your work soon!

Emma-Jayde

Thanks FemmeCafe! :)

Anyway, scanner is working again (although very temperamental  ) The contrast is still a bit dodgy...The detail in the paler areas won't show up properly.

So here's a lynx with a demented looking rabbit. Or hare. I dunno. One of the two.
Yes, I did find some photos to get the set of the rabbit right.
