Posible Spoilers

I've read Melanie Rawn's Dragon Prince Series and I thought it was really good, The first book was Awesome and one of my favorite's of all time, But the second series Dragon Star I didn't enjoy nearly as much, Rohan died I just couldn't read it anymore.

The same thing almost happened to me with Storm of Swords, Possible Spoilers

When the King of the North died(can't think of his name right now) it really pissed me off I put down the book and didn't read it for 2 weeks, but eventually got over it and finished the book

One usually doesn't want once favorit charecters to die...but sometimes it fits. With the story and/or the authors writing style. Martin's writing style really is very different from RJ's, but I still like it alot. Both RJ and Martin have very realistic depictions of their realities, I think, though they show different aspects of their worlds.

Robb was my favorite character in the story, Besides Ned ofcourse. Now that he's gone why should i keep reading. I kinda like Jon Snow and Arya and Tyrone Lannister and all but Robb was my favorite. It's all ways the characters that make me want to read and if my favorite characters are dead why keep readidng??

Yeah, I know what you mean about the best characters dying. For a while you are stunned, thinking 'Nah, they CAN'T be dead, CAN they?? Then you read on a bit more, in the hope there is a mistake ... oh damn, they really are. Felt that way about Moiraine.

Many books have taught me to be wary of any death described in vague terms . . .

i am so upset to find that she hasnt even started the captal's tower yet... hells, its only been like 85 years since mageborntraitor....

grrrrrr to authors who take 85 years to write a sequel....

I'm actually reading "The Mageborn Traitor" right now... It's pretty light reading, but that's just what I want after exams. I like it. Hmm, what's this about the next book... that's not very nice to her readers, to take a long time before she even starts writing the sequel.

Jade, the link to my melanie rawn pages is thefey.surfsyou.net/rawn. :)

And Elin, it is mean of her to take so long, I've been waiting over 5 years for The Captal's Tower. :( According to amazon, it was out in 2000 though. lol

I have been reading Elizabeth Haydon's Rhapsody books. They are wonderful. Anyone else?

I have a soft spot for female authors, in fact, Robert Jordan and George Martin are the only contemporary male authors that i read anymore.

Melanie Rawn is one of my favorite authors. I would love to see her write another trilogy about Pol's daughter.

I read Melanie Rawn before I even got my hands on RJ (I accidently grabbed EotW instead of the book I had intended to buy, bought it anyways, and I didn't regret it :-). I wish that Michael Whelan did RJ's covers, though. I love his work, and in fact have several posters of his work. Anyways, this is a first time poster here and just getting used to it!
