if rand can make a sword out of the essence of sadin, dose that mean that the aiel can make spears and javalins? if mat could channel, could he make a staff? another topic. how did the dark one taint sadin. ok, if he had the power to taint sadin, then why didn't he do it the whole time, and if not, then when the men went to seal up the bore, then why wasn't sadair tainted as well? i know this topic has probably been ground to dust, just like how rand is going to survive without moraine at the last battle, but, still, if you have any input, then please, help me!

it might be because that when the men went to seal the bore, no wemon went, therefore the dark one had no contact with sadair.

yeah, but there had to be wemon linked to make it where the men were linked

To most of the original post I think that "yes" is a good answer. For the rest...I can't remember where and when, but didn't someone make a smashing good theory about the taint a bunch of time ago? With pictures and everything...

Anyone here remember who did it and the address to that persons page (with the theory and pictur)?

i don't recall any of that. . . .but as i've pieced together reading stuff there were no women there, and therefore the men couldn't have been linked. . .they did everyone solo. . .and the act of imprisoning the dark one brought on his retaliatory strike that tainted the source and drove all the men present nuts. . . .who then proceeded to blow everything up

but if they were linked(just because you are linked dose not mean that you have to be close to the person when he/she uses your power) then the dark one would have had as much contact to sadair as sadin

how could they have done it solo? they had to have been linked! i can understand putting all the forsaken in the bore solo, but makeing the seals, and such, they had to have been linked!

They weren't linked. The female Aes Sedai made "the faithfull accord" (instigate by a female AS that later became known as Shadar Nor) in where all female AS of any strength agreed not to take any part in the plan that Lews Therin brought forth in the Hall of Servants to seal the board. This because they felt it too dangerous.

i had a really nice theory on this... with pitures and everything...

i wonder what i did with that..

anyway

there was no need for them to be linked, if you remember, or, as i remember, they are weaker than both would be soloing, and simply adding the level of power they reached together, yet stronger than any one of them would be alone.

this doesn't mean that all those men, coming at them, each with their own power, would be so weak.

it's like that time last week when this bug started biting me.
i looked at it.
it looked back.
its bites were ineffective.

it came back with friends.
fear froze my heart.

i have a rash now...

crap i'm lost

on rereading... my point is... wait a second..

i never had pictures... though you all thought i had a nice theory on healing the taint... which i STILL havent read the last book... *sigh*

*scratch*
Yea...

I think that you're right. Except for that bit about the bread, I don't know where you got THAT stupid idea from!

It would be really interesting to see that theory you speak about healing the taint. I don't remember that smashing theory you speak about. Though if you post a theory that just HAPPEN to be the exact thing that happends in WH, I'm going to feel compelled to call you a Great Big Fibber regarding having read Winters Heard or now...wait a minute, the "last book"?! I see tricky word play, I do! None of us here have read the "last book" (I surely hope!) so...

Hmm....can't remember my Norse Mythology now....What is Tyr known to be God Of...?

yea, it was a smashing theory... but what they did... it might have been what i said or not, who knows.
i meant winters heart by 'last book' hehe
what i theorized about was more to do with the connection of the taint, and the taint itself being the true power, a leak that entered the one power i think...been too long
and tyr was the god of victory, and of battle
it was him that was displaced by odin, who took over for many gods
tyr's left hand was bitten off when that rat or something wanted to bite the moon, he bit it into a crescent, but also took tyr's hand with him.
it was later said that odin's hand was bittin off by this monster, that i just remembered it's name is fenrir.
it was later said that odin gave up his left hand for knowledge, in the form of runes, which went on to birth tarot, but at the time and long after, it was the alphabet
i read runes as well
it was said before the odin's hand nonsense, that he gave up half the world for knowledge, throwing his left eye into the pool of mir ( a small pool, that was like a mirror, so i think the name came from, and was used mostly for divination, seeings how the gods even looked onto it) he was given the runes
it was said at the same time as the pool of mir story that he was tied upside down to yggdrasil, the world tree, and stayed there til he gained knowledge, which he did, in the form of the runes
man, i wish i could remember more on this, but my knowledge on mythology is not as vast as i'd rather
sorry for the long responce time, and i doubt anyone'll read this
hehe

The only link involved in the sealing of the DO's prison is this one:
http://www.tor.com/shayol.html
Speculation of the wilder sort is rife among some who call themselves historians, and the discovery of this material has resulted in the expected from the usual quarters. Would the great sa'angreal have proven effective used as Patra Posae desired? Had the seals been placed by a circle comprised of men and women together, might the men, or even saidin itself, have been protected in some fasion from the Dark One's counter stroke? Or would saidar have been tainted as well? The last possibility is enough to curdle the coldest blood, yet the fact is that events transpired as they transpired, and such speculation is no more than a fireside game to frighten the gullible. Those I speak of will know who I mean.

A rat, eh? I thought that the Fenris wulf was given that name because it was a Wulf, of of Loke's children by a giant :-) And that bit about Odin giving up a hand for knowledge is certainly new to me...
He had to pay with one of his eyes to be allowed to drink from the well of knowlege and he hung from Yggrasil and had spears jabbed into his side for the runes, that's all that I can remember now.
Reading runes is hard and time consuming:( How come you read Runes? Runes in English or actual old runes in Scandinavian??

Crap, my tab key isnt working... have to restart, but i'll answer first.
yea, fenris was a wolf, rat, whatever, it was a big animal, that's all i remember.
and the runes i read, it is the old letters of the alphabet.
i dont know that i've ever seen english runes, what i read are letters like hagalaz, mannaz, sowelu, and so on
there are 24 of em, and i do read them, i'm quite the clairvoyant, in honesty
