I went to the chat before going out on a golf round this morning and yea, a pretty funky bunch is what I met. In a way, it showed once again that wotism is a group of communities rather than just one community. The chat seems rather busy, filled with people that...never come here. Hmm....

About times though...any suggestions what would be a good time for YOU? (yes, YOU!) I think we may need one time "European time" and one "North Am" time? People can just go there, of course, they probably don't have to be lonely...but anyone going might be in for a shock with those people...

jacob, you golf? how interesting.

The chat crowd and the bboard crowd in wotism history have always been pretty much completely seperate groups. There's been a bit of overlap here and there, but very little. I guess no one has time for both mediums. heh. That, and the two groups have very different temperments, as I guess you've seen. :-)

I think the idea of scheduling chat times for wotism.net is cool and all, but I'd say that the chat regulars are really the ones who have control of the chat (as much as anyone does), and I wouldn't expect them to step aside or anything like that. I mean, they're gonna wanna be talking about their rather interesting topics of conversation whether or not a whole bunch of people from here are there. I might almost think it was a good idea to register a new chatroom. Though at the same time I think it's cool that the wotism chatroom lives on independantly and is linked to on multiple sites. But I guess that's up to you.

As far as times, I guess nights (in GMT-5) are good for me, though it really varies. I think it'd be cool if we could have everyone in at the same time, but you're probably right that we need two. Though it'd be cool if we could schedule them in such a way that maybe there'd be some overlap of people.

Of course I play golf! Really, do you know of anyone really successfull that does NOT play golf? If you expect to get anywhere in the world, you've got to play golf!

LOL!

Anywhy...

I have pondered the chat for abit and Jean and I have talked about "it". I think that it's quite true the chat bunch considers the chat to be theirs, pretty much as we BoardWotists consider wotism/the board to be ours, regardless of who happens to actually own the place or such. It might be that we get a second chat for this reason. As a rule it may not be ideal to spread the community out, but for this it may be ideal. People could still interact and such, of course, but as is, I suspect that some here (you know, nearly normal people...) may find the present chat a tad shocking

Nights "server time" would probably be good for alot of people, I think(oh, and WHAT part of the US is only GMT+5??). I've come to the conclution that US/EURO people pretty much interlink their online times (my theory is that it's due to the fact that Euro ppl pay for locals calls and therefor go online on off hours). Maybe if we were to schedule chat's late evenings, CET, the Australians etc would also be able to Join on occation?

Oh, yeah, I guess you're right. But, I always thought it was people became successful and then started playing golf, not vice-versa.

Well, Jacob, I'm not sure how you can be calling the people here nearly normal. :-p But, I guess in comparison to the chat people...heh. But, wot chat is obviously providing a valuable service for a small but important section of society.

Oh, and Jacob, I said GMT-5, not GMT+5. GMT+5 is in the middle of Asia. GMT-5 is eastern North America and western South America, or thereabouts. Server time is GMT+1? Or did I make that up?
