View Full Version : Updating the forum
vbulletin has released an update for the forum and I'll be installing that tomorrow app. 7:00am central time. If all goes well, the forum will only be down about 15-20 minutes. If all goes bad... longer. :type:
Ok folks, I'm about to lock the forums for the update.

What changed about them in the update?
*tests something* :type:
D'oh, smileys still go to the end instead of being inserted correctly. :grumbles:

That update was a mess. I downloaded it last Friday, when I tried to install it today I started getting errors. I went to the vbulletin site and it seems that there were so many errors in that update that they had to release another one to correct them. :grumbles: So, I got pissed, restored everything, downloaded the new upgrade and will install it later. Me after this morning = :tard:

Oh, if you're talking about being able to see the last ten people you gave rep to, just go into your user cp. It helps to keep track of it.

Speaking of updates, I need to find a way to update my comp. with a program to eliminate all pop-ups cause I've been having them all day! You work so hard for us Jean. So hard that we may never be able to pay you back in full caring cause of your love for WoTism, us, and you gave us WoTism: A place to chat about WoT, and a new place to call home. These updates are neccessary for all of us here. Please Jean, please keep up the helpful updates, as long as you don't stress too much about it.

Use firefox instead of IE. It automatically blocks them. Or install the google toolbar if you use IE because it does the same thing, just not as well.

I'm going to try and update the forum to vb3.0.3 tonight. I did it on the test forum with no problem, so I'm going do the update here tonight, probably in about an hour and a half.

Woot! I figured out what it was. The server was pulling the install folder info from the cache in the /tmp directory on the server. :tard: But, we're all secure now from the evils of vb bugs.

Me neither.

Ok, for some reason, I'm the only person who has the rep scale, but I'm the only one that can see it.
Oye, I've never had this many problem with a vbulletin update before. :(

Do you see it for everyone or just yourself? That is how it is for me, I can only see it on my posts.

Just me. I did see it for everyone, but when I tried to log in the admin panel, I got an error, had to re-upload some files, then the rep went away. *sigh*

Do you think it's because of some of the board hacks you are using?
Jean

Don't think so, there are only 2 .php files that I've changed, and the only one that affects rep is the one that shows the last 10 people given rep to. And it wasn't in place when the problem started.
I've got a few more things to try, it's probably something easy anyway.

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to Jean again.
Hahaha, I hate when people quote that message but I had to this time. Yeah, it seems to work now.

I guess. lol That update was very buggy, so more than likely it's the update, I'll check vbulletin for more info.
I'm very disappointed in vbulletin with the last update, it reset a lot of things that should not have been left alone. There are a couple of bugs they've noted, if you notice any of these let me know:
-unable to upload custom avatar
-buddy/ignore list not working properly
-for the mods: unable to log in to the moderator panel
-quick reply having a problem with smilies
-styles not loading properly

I have the new posts problems too, but it's always been a little weird for me. I can log into the moderator panel no problem. I haven't tried to upload anything yet as a new avatar.

Yeah, just hit refresh or empty your cache. That's nothing new.

Smileys in the Quick Reply seem to be working fine. I can log on to the mod cp with no problems. I haven't noticed the rest, but then, I haven't tried to upload an avy, ignore/buddy someone, or change a style recently :dozey:

They might not happen, but they've been reported by some, especially those using something other that internet explorer as a browser.

Question of the Week number 3 has apparantly been posted, but as usual I cannot see it when I go to the Tor website.
I would appreciate it if someone could copy and paste it into our forum.
It apparantly relates to why Seanchan Ogier do not feel the Longing. It seems as if there are more Stedding in Seanchan than in Randland, and that the Ogier there did not wander around so long after the Breaking.
