Why is it that no matter how well things are going for you there's always someone ready to cause a problem? I play in an originals band with 3 other talented musicians and we WERE planning on recording at the beginning of next month. Big emphasis on WERE. As we decided we needed a fuller, and in some cases more technical sound we decided to draft in another guitarist. The logical choice for this was a guitarist we had played with previously, due to the fact that he knew all of our set and is an extremely gifted musician who also plays keyboards (versatility is always good!) and although a little quiet compared to the rest of us is a very nice guy. Cue our present guitarist having a hissy fit and refusing to play with the guy as 'he doesn't like him'. To try and get over this fact I suggested we all meet up socially, have a few beers, and then all sit down and have a jam to see whether it worked musically.
So, two beers in each of our stomachs we head back to present guitarists house to have a session seeing what we come up with. It went amazingly well, with Steve picking up everything we played, even writing some new stuff that just fell together as we played. I was happy, bassist was happy, Steve was happy, and as nothing was said by our present guitarist H, and as he seemed to be enjoying the jam we thought he was fine too. We arranged to meet up the next day and work some more.
Cue the next morning, with me receiving a phonecall from H, telling me that he doesn't like the guy and wont play with him. His entire reason for not liking the guy is that there is 'something about him'. If Steve was some arrogant twat then hey, I could understand the hostility, but he's a very shy, quiet nice person.

Why are some people just total assholes?
