What do you think of MS&T? I'm not yet finished with it(almost finished with Part 1 of To Green Angel Tower), yet I have grown quite fond of it. The plot, while not exactly the height of originality, is pretty good. The characters are also pretty realistic. Williams is one of the few authors I've read who is able to give detailed descriptions with just a few words.

i'll give you this one, it is a fucking stellar trilogy.
very dark.
the conclusion of the series is great.
williams said he'll revisit the characters in the future so i'm hoping for another series.
after yr done with that, if you haven't read 'otherland' yet do so. williams' best work imo. more of a sci-fi bent to it, but still fucking fantastic.

Loved it. Like you said, not the most original story but I loved the way Simon developed through the story and the fact that the main character did not end up as the traditional high fantasy hero.

Otherland is very very good. I just read it last year and had to buy the series in HB edition. Memory, Sorrow and Thorn is also a great triology. Tad Williams rocks. Seoman Snowlock is like the coolest character name in any book

i just finished the new SoIaF book, and started The dragon bone chair, and i have to say i am very dissappointed, i'm not very far into the book, but i just cannot bring myself to read it for more then 10-15 minutes at a time, as it is so incredably boring, i don't understand how everyone can love this, does it get better or is it like this the whole way through? I've never stopped reading a book part way through before, but i am tempted to do so here =/

it may not be as good as aSoIaF, but it is DEFINITELY better than SoT. The beginning is kind of weak because Simon is so immature, but it gets a lot better as it goes.

care to share a little so i wont be tempted to stop reading again, the magic it talks about, its sounding quite lame at the moment, but i've heard its one of the main points of the book?

The magic really isn't that big of a part of the books. I mean, there is magic used, but is more of a mysterious thing because the users are dying out. I don't know exactly how to convince you that it is a good series, except that TW describes his characters really well and that lots of cool stuff happens and things don't turn out like you think they will. Just RAFO, I guess. :p

yep just RAFO the characters are very interesting and they interact very well as I recall the first book is kind of boring but if you stick it out you should be happy you did by book 2 the end of the dragonbone chair is definitely worth it too. it will get better once you get through the first half.
