Min, Aviendha and Elayne

I've been dying to do some water-color lately, so I've sketched up a picture of Rand's "three-some". Just wanted to check with you guys if I'm close to how you see the characters :).

Your picture of Elayne if probably the one of the characters which is closest to my mental image. These images are of course helped by the different artworks that I've seen. I imagine Min with a rounder face. For instance like Christina E. Bronnestam's (http://www.wotism.net/artgallery/Christina-E-Bronnestam/min) image of Min, which is one of my absolute favorits. Though since she's been growing her hair longer in the last few books, the hair length in your picture is more up-to-date. Aviendha is beautifully drawn but I would imagine her looking abit fiercer. Or well, maybe that's not the right word, but she does look abit "wetlander soft" in this image, I think. Her facial expression looks mild, but perhaps more than that it may be the way she's holding her hand. Then again, she's been complaining lately that she's growing soft ;)

Allright :). Tried to make Avi a little harder (but she's among good friends here, so I do want her looking friendly ;) ) and made Min rounder. Remembered that I've always seen her with apple-cheeks, too, so that is added.

Yes, Much better. Especially with Min. Not the least with her eyes and her mouth. She's an easygoing character and I think that comes through with the changes. She also looks more "alive" if you know what I mean...or not. Aviendha is better too. One thing I just though about is Aviendha's hight - Aviendha and Elayne is supposed to be about the same hight, aren't they? But that would be abit hard to change I would think. I guess Elayne and Min are just standing one step futher down a stair or such. Hmm...makes me think of some old portrait of Ulrika Elionora and her consort (my history knowlege slipping I'm afraid) where Ulrika Elionora portraied as standing one step higher up then her husband because she's Queen and he's just her prince consort. But I'm drifting from the subject as usual for me :)

Really?! I always thought Avi as taller, since she's aiel... Anyhow, I don't want to mess with the balance of the pic, so I guess Aviendha's standing one step higher ;).

Yea, I think they're supposed to be about the same hight. Andoran's are tall and blond, rather Aiel looking? I'm getting rather sleepy now though ~yawn~

Maybe Elayne's neckline should be higher, since Andoran gowns usually have high necks. But hey, she's been a little racy lately, right? Maybe she'll start a new fashion trend in Andor! ;)

Thanks! (LOVE your avatar, Amaia -- one darn cute cat with a darn cute expression.) Yes, I know Andoran gowns are highnecked, but that takes away my pleasure drawing jewlery on bare skin ;).
Today, I also read a line in CoT that told in some roundabouts that Avi is taller than Elayne, but presumably not much. "Birgitte was not a big woman, though she stood taller than Elayne in her heeled boots, as tall as Aviendha..." TOR-books,p288, second newline.

Wow, this is great stuff. The only change I would make is that Elayne's hair is a lot less red than that. It's only supposed to be a hint. Other than that, :eek:

oh...this is kind of picky...but in heraldic terms, you should have gold/yellow on white/silver. it's a metal on a metal, and it's not done. it should either be a gold or silver lion on a field of red. but that's just in terms of heraldry and coats of arms and stuff.

Cool... I almost never check the art discussion, or the galleries either, but Jacob told me I should. It's a great picture, I like it a lot. If I have to criticize it, what comes to mind is that the faces look a little too similar (this got better after you changed Min, and Aviendha too). It's like, when you draw, you learn to draw a mouth, but then it's easy for most mouths to turn out the same. (OTOH, maybe that's what's called developing a style.) And it's difficult to make people beautiful, but in different ways...

Hmm, what more? I like the way the folds fall on the clothes, it's nicely done... And the watercolor version as well - very nice.

I really like the new Elayne. Your other drawings were wonderful, but I like the idea of giving them more "personality," rather than just generalised portraits. Maybe Min should have more of a mischeivous look, like a smirk. I can't think of anything for Avi right now. Anyhow, your art is wonderful and will come out great no matter what. ;)

Yep, I know. It was there right before I saved it, but I didn't like the way it came out and will try again next time I work on the pic ^_^.
I've always seen it as a bunch of snowflakes, not one like the other, in one row only. Nothing fancy, but about half an inch across.

As you probably gathered I like suspense or conflict in the pictures... a character is more than just looks. Like your Selene 3/4 profile head, where you can feel the evil... You know we love that one.

Not wanting to be mean or critical or anything, but I kind of like the original Aviendha, but with a little bit longer face. But great stuff, I kind of like to draw once in a while, but your art excedes anything I've ever aspired to do? Also, if there was gonna be a movie or miniseries on WoT, does anyone else agree Natasha Henstridge would make a good Aviendha, she's tall (like 5'10'', don't know if that's tall enough), stern, and best of she's Canadian. Those are very well done. I have to agree with Jacob. The picture of Elayne is great. It gives her the feel of looking down her nose at you (as Mat would say). I think Aviendha looks a bit too much like brooke shields, but it is still an awesome picture.

Wow!!! they all look a lot like i pictured them, especially min. the one problem is elayne's hair. I have a friend w/gorgeous ultra curly hair and i always pictured elayne like that-curls not waves.
