Ooops :D It was brought to my attention I put this in my reflections thread by mistake.... :umm: oops... force of habit I guess :p.... Anyway...
***********
Ok Im finishing up the Death Gate Cycle. I just finished CoT and the next Martins books and Goodkind books are still not here yet.
So..I was in goood ol' barnes and Nobles (May it live for ever :D )
And I was picking up the last DGC book and I saw the Dark Sword Trilolgy by the same duo of authors.
Is it any good ???
Anything else you guys can suggest?
Im afraid of starting to read the last DGC book b/c they are super quick reads and then I will have nothing. *shivers*
Say there is hope please
*Gets in fetal position and rocks back and forth*
I'm trying to read the Death Gate Cycle currently, aswell. It's rough going, I had just re-read Heinlein's Glory Road, and switching to Weis and Hickman is like stepping back three grades. I just hope Limbeck dies soon. The Dark Sword trilogy is good up until the last half of the third book, then it gets idiotic. I suggest getting them from the Library if possible Arch(meaning Buck).
If you're in the Mood for some Sci-fi, Try Stephen R. Donaldson's Gap Cycle. It's a five book series.
Book 1: The Real Story
Book 2: Forbidden Knowledge
Book 3: A Dark and Hungry God Arises
Book 4: Chaos and Order
Book 5: This Day All Gods Die
Edit: oops, Sorry Buck, didn't mean to call you Arch.

Ever tried Robin Hobb's Farseer trilogy?
It is written in first person whicb I usually find tedious to read but it is actually really enthralling. She also have a liveship trilogy that I havent read, its not supposed to be as good, and is written a trilogy following up on the Farseer's. Its definately worth a try!
Oh and Ursula Le Guin's Earthsea series is excellent, some really beautiful imagery in it. Very rewarding books :o)
And David Gemmell isnt bad, not sure about series of his but 'Echoes of the great song' is always worth a try.
Morningstar- David Gemmell
Wayfarer Redemption series- Sara Douglass (Not my favorite, but interesting)
American Gods- Neil Gaiman
Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn trilogy- Tad Williams
of course, there's always Terry Pratchett :D

the belgariad and melorian (two sets of books in the same triagy) by soem1 i forgot, are very good, and a decent legnth.. a very good read... (10 books)
the chronicles of thomas covenant are really good... about a guy who is unwillingly transported into another world and is hailed as a hero and must fight an evil enemy... better than it sounds :)
or the pendragon cycle, about arthor, merlin, atlantis, druids and all them lot... lots of good battles... very good...

I would certainly recomend the Storm of Ice and Fire series by George RR Martain.

Read the DragonCrown War Cycle by Michael A. Stackpole. Action-packed and pretty much full of anything fantasy can offer.
Start with The Dark Glory War or Fortress Draconis.
This is his website. (http://www.stormwolf.com/)

hmmm, possibly look at the books before recommending ones *hint**hint* if he's waiting for the sequal of certain books, I'm pretty sure he's already read the ones that are out.
hey buck, I'm in the same debate as you, what books to read until A Feast for Crows comes out next month...

Try Gardens of the Moon by Steven Erikson. Its part of a ten book series(the fifth being released in December) and its one of my favourite books (Better then WoT :D ), and the only other author thats in Erikson's class is Martin.
The books will be released by Tor in the States in 2004, but until then just order them off www.amazaon.ca or go to Britain or Canada.

No matter how much you dislike Jordan's slow-paced style, you must admit: he and Martin are of the same caliber. You might like Martin better, but he certainly is no classier an author than Jordan.

I never said i hated Jordan's writing style. Hell, i didnt say anything about his writing style. The reason why Jordan isn't in Martin's class is because of book 10. Need i say more?

Yes, Book Ten was fabulous in my opinion. I thought it was purposeful and set up teh events in the next book. Why do you think Book 10 is bad?

I'm going to have to answer your rhetorical question with a yes.

CoT was the most uneventful book I've ever read.

Aragorn summed it up nicely

Would you please be so kind as to explain how a book's being uneventful makes it classless? I agree with you when you say that CoT was maddeningly slow-paced, yet WoT is still just as classy as ASOIAF.
