Rand, Mat and Perrin are 18 when the story starts. Some of the actors you suggested are in thier 40's and 50's. In my opinion WOT could not be done live action. It would have to be computer animation. Sorry to burst your bubble.
And Adam Sandler as Mat? Good God, are you crazy? Some one that can act is needed. Sandler is a good comic, but could not handle the action involved with Mat.

Shampoo is better! Oh really fool!
Nahh . . . just don't see it.
Aragorn

ME as Mat. I swear.

24th March 2003, 14:03
I would do Angelica Houston as Moggy. The person that played Arwen in LotR would be Lanfear. Heath Ledger would be a great Mat. Eric Bana might be a good Perrin, but I've never seen him in anything, only heard of him. Matt Damon could also be a good Mat. I like Damandred as the Irish guy that was in Minority Report and The Recruit.
I think it would be a series of mini-series'.

I went to that sight and it's great! I have some new picks.
Aviendha=Catherine Zeta-Jones
Lan=Christopher Lambert
Min=Rachel Leigh Cook
Moiraine=Jodie Foster
Galad=Leonardo DiCaprio
Birgitte=Jerry Ryan
Sammael=Richard dean Anderson
DO's voice=James Earl Jones
Padan Fain=Steve Buscemi
Abell Cauthon=Harrison Ford
Gawyn=Toby Maguire
There we go. That sight is great. I espcially liked Steve Buscemi as Fain.
Byrn
24th March 2003, 15:11
Catherine Zeta Jones is like 35. Aviendha is 17 or maybe 16. Please think about these things.......
Christopher Lambert isn't even 6 foot. Lan is like 6'5".
Gary Oldman or the guy from Rainman(I can never rember his name) would be a better Fain.

I hope the guys on Dragonmount will hury up with their movie.
For those who haven't heard of it, it's a 5 - 7 min long animated movie which shows the prologue of tEotW, the creation of the Dragonmount. I look foreward to seeing that.

Dustin Hoffman is the Perfect actor for Fain. Not only is he the right age and height, he's one of the best Actors out there. ( I knew I'd remember his name eventually.)

Fine then. If not Christopher Lambert, there's a TV show called Le Femme Nikita (don't mix this up with the movie of the same name) in which there was this one guy named michael. The actor was tall, stone-faced, had long hair, and could be completely like Lan! (shivers from excitement!)

Right Now, I tihnk the best Actor for Lan is Viggo Mortensen. Lan and Strider are so similar, Viggo could pull Lan off.

Nar, he has to be heaps bigger, and a deep voice too, i think.

"la" femme Nikita , lan sam :)
Viggo.... aaaaah *dreamy look*
Cloric The Cleric
27th March 2003, 12:31
Hmm...
Egwene - Natalie Portman
Nyn - Linda Fiorentino
Elayne - Emma Cualfield
Moir - Hmm...I really wanna say Sally Field, she had the bearing to pull it off, but starting to look her age...hmm
Lan - I know he's not tall enough, but Sean Connery. He's got the age, the bearing, the...stoicism and sheer presence.
Algemar - Chow Yun Fat
Faile - Salma Hayek
I can see Viggo in there somewhere, but...hmm...
Moggy - Angelica Houston would be great
Semi - Halle Berry - if she can pull off Storm
Sam - Dennis Hopper
Cads - Olympia Dukakis
Leane - Sarah Jessica Parker
more later.

Lan is a tough one.
I'm thinking Sam Elliot or Kurt Russel . . . maybe Mel Gibson. Tough, Weathered, deep powerful voice, and capable of doing action scenes.

27th March 2003, 16:32
All Those actors are good, But Lan is built like Arnold in Conan.
lan sam
27th March 2003, 21:50
No he's not. Viggo would be good but the Michael from L? Femme Nikita would be better. He's older now so it's even better. Have you ever seen it Liane?

Okay another idea for Lan. Adrian Paul who played Duncan McCleod in the Highlander tv series.
As an actor he can pass as a Blademaster. He also seems to be a hit with the ladies.
Elfin
28th March 2003, 10:15
Roy Dupuis is the actor who played Micheal on "La Femme Nikita" show. He would be an awesome Lan. For some reason I never envisaged Lan as being built like Conan...I always imagined him leaner than that.
Adrian Paul...hmm..not a bad choice I guess, but Roy Dupuis does such a good job at looking inscrutable.
Byrn
28th March 2003, 13:57
He's built bigger than Rand. Rand could almost pass a blcksmith.
lan sam
28th March 2003, 16:21
You saw the show elfin? My mom's addicted to it. Adrian Paul. Hmm, I like Roy Dupuis better, but I think he should definetly be in it.
PresqueVu
29th March 2003, 13:29
the guy who played duncun Mcloed would be awful for Lan tho, he doesnt match Lan's description, i.e scarred and plain/ugly, and in the highlander film he was in (not seen the series) he could not pull off playing a blademaster. Make you wonder who could!
lan sam
30th March 2003, 17:13
Adrian Paul is the bomb!!!! Liam Neason (sp) would have to be in it, no question.

I am DEFINATELY for David Boreanaz as Moridin, and think Kate Winslet (or myself) would be a better Nynaeve. As the world's hugest Lan fan I haven't found quite the best actor yet, but i'm looking.

Kate Winslet = not enough bosum! *nods*

hey someone mentioned the ages for the actors might be inappropriate (hmm makeup technology does wonders these dayss)
on the Lan issue i tend to agree that a arnie type figure with excellent acting ability is required (very hard one):
That guy from Nikita would be excellent if he did some weigthts and they computer generated his physique.....tho i like the eric the viking dude from 13 warriors
I think WOT as a min-series would do the series an injustice coz you wouldnt be able to get the best actors but i like the concept of an animated movie
p.s. how do i get my hands on this animated feature from dragonmount? the one from the prologue from EoTW?

I always liked Brendan Frasier. He's got good range as an actor and is the right height and build

Lan = Michael Madsen
Herid Fel = Christopher Lloyd
Mesaana = Sigourney Weaver
Ron Livingston (Office Space) = Mat
Mena Suvari (as a blonde) = Elayne
Beyonce Knowles = Seafolk Windfinder
Thomas Jane (Deep Blue Sea) = Tallanvor
Billy Bob Thornton = Fain
Eliza Dushku = Faile
Rachel Weisz = Egwene
Angelina Jolie = Nynaeve
Byrn
7th April 2003, 13:24
Lan = Tim Daly(watch the Outsider, it's a western but Tim is pretty buff and pulls of a gunsliger very well)
Fain = Dustin Hoffman or Gary Oldman. These are THE best choices for this character.
Crix
9th April 2003, 09:20
i think Gary Oldman could pull of a good fain tho id put Oldman as Demandred but i cant getaway from Steve Buscemi as Fain...
Steve Buscemi is the ultimate fain

Dustin Hoffman is the ultimate Fain. Gary Oldman is my Second choice.

Firstly I'd like to express my joy at finally finding a website with people who enjoy WoT as much as I do. I"m currently re-reading the series.
The Lan subject seems to have everyone talking .. and I honestly think it would need to be a new actor, an unknown. Because Lan is the most intense character in the series ( as well as Perrin, my personal favorite ).
I think it would be a crime not to have WoT as a computerised series, you really couldn't pull it off otherwise. Unless, i guess, u had the budget and team that made Lord of the Rings ... there's a possibility.
*ponders* and *drools*
peace people.

Okay, my take:
lan - Nick Nolte (face like leather, whiskey voice, old) Hey, they can make him look bigger and have long hair.
Moridin - Christopher Walken
Graendal - Kathy Bates
Rahvin - Ralph Fiennes
Rand - some tall, unknown australian fellow
aran'gar - Jennifer Lopez
Perrin - affleck
Bayle Domon - Jack Nicholson

Yoyo. I'm back. Anyways, I'd just like to say I love your new avy Byrn. I said it once and I'll say it again, LAN= ROY DUPIUS!!!!!!!!! There is simply no competition.

Hey i think i got a good lan:
Anyone seen the movie with Antonio Banderas: the 13th Warrior? Well i think the 'erik the viking' dude who was the leader of the 13 warriors would make the perfect lan.
:)

lan - Nick Nolte (face like leather, whiskey voice, old) Hey, they can make him look bigger and have long hair. _ He's Way to old and out of shape
Moridin - Christopher Walken_Again way to old. Moridin is about Rand's age( atleast in appearance
Graendal - Kathy Bates _ Grandal is supposed to attractice and in her mid-thirties
Rahvin - Ralph Fiennes_After seeing Red Dragon, I agree on this one
Rand - some tall, unknown australian fellow_ again I agree, Bu tnot necassarily Austrailian
aran'gar - Jennifer Lopez_ Big breasts, not big ass
Perrin - affleck_ You should be shot on principle alone
Bayle Domon - Jack Nicholson_ Not a bad choice, but too big of a name for such a small character. Plus he's too old.

You guys are looking in the wrong spot. There are not many actors big enough to play lan. Lan should be played by someone in the wwe. They are an average of 6'5 and each are about 280 easy. I would say somoene like kevin nash, maybe somone a little shorter.

We want someone that can Act.
If only Clint Eastwood wasn't so Old.

what about Roy Dupius? I think you guys really need to see that guy's character in La Femme Nikita. He IS Lan. He's silent, badass, has long hair, strong, etc. (he might not be tall enouhg though)
Jean
17th January 2004, 09:43
How about Daniel Day Lewis as Lan?
He has the look, might not be tall enough, but they can make anyone look taller. :)

Oh and Viggo should be cast as somebody cause hes my husband and I love him! :love:
