I was just thinking about how WoT is in perfect form for an movie. Each book cumulates in an epic event. I am also awre of the cost this project would take, but look at Harry Potter

except CoT. :( and think about the length each movie would have to be... you would have to do 2 or 3 movies per book.

Man u could summarize the books and cut it down to major events each book for a movie (ok it would be still 3 hrs long but still cool) i think the movies would be a resounding success after the Tolkien saga took off!!
Obviously there are ppl out there who dont necessarily read books but find fantasy cool man

You can't just butcher up a great series like WOT! Although, I suppose you could cut out some of the annoying scenes with the Aes Sedai sitting around and drinking tea, while discussing some boring problem. And stuff like that.

you cant butcher a series like WOT...why not? with Jordan's whole dragging out for money buisness the series has pretty much died for me; it seems like a lot of people here feel the same as I. If a movie was made and coul be considered in isolation it would probably seem quite good, if its purpose is only as a remake of the books instead of a work in its own right it will probably be awful.
After all, there is an awful lot of crap in the latter books...does anyone care about Elayne's political situation or the jealously between Rand's three women and their pettiness...
ath. I must not rant at the death of a series....*breath*
None of the people that are complaining about the length of WOT have any vision. RJ can take as long as it takes to tell his story.

Bit generalising and oh yes - wrong.
It is not a lack of vision but a willingness for him to retain the same standard. There is a clear and obvious deterioration in the latter few books, events are sparse and chapters littered with unneccesary detail and conversation.
Perhaps we have been spoilt by the complexity of the first few books, however, the point is that having raised that standard of writing it is up to him to maintain it and not to merely forceably lengthen, in such an obvious way, his series.
Jordan will take however long it takes - of course he will, he is in command, it is his world. Yet he should not clutter it so much that the true events and meanings are too sparse to encourage a reader to continue.
:p
again , you are sufferiung from aLack of Vison. Every book can't have a Dumai Well's.

Again, insulting and oh....wrong!
I'm not saying there should be a Dumai wells in every book. Too many climaxes and they just loose their impact. It is the style of writing, the syntax, the conversations, and the needless detail that I object to. Take the last three books, compress them to a book and a half and you'd have a quality as good as the first few and not the decline of the last.
No, there is a lot of character development and foreshadowing. It's not our story to tell. It's RJ's. Wait for the story to be completed to critisize it.
while the fact that they could have compressed the last 3 books into one and a half is interesting, I do like the whole chadan Chal Chapter at the end of book 9 (WH).
But as you say compress the books, and lose some of the points in the story, which are there to explain things about the book, and give the world a more realistic overview.
The one complaint i have is that it takes at least 3 (incuding the next book) to get Faile back from the shaido.

I'm currently studying Directing, Production and Scriptwriting. WoT would be pretty impossible to make as a live action movie series.
Actors would have to be hired for the whole bulk of movies with contracts and everything. There definately won't be a movie coming out any time soon as the story still hasn't finished. Two many sets aswell, CGI can do alot but the magnitude of the books would cost far too much money. Costumes will also take up an enourmous bulk.
I did want a movie to be made, I even thought out how I would make it. The first movie I thought should cover Eye Of The World too The Great Hunt. Falme would be a suitable ending I believe but thats as far as I got.
An animation series I believe could cover it quite well though. Japenese animation of course, like Ninja Scroll and Akira.
