Has anyone considered the possibility of Lan being a Darkfriend . I hate the idea myself but there is actually a bit of evidence to suggest it .
Most people think that someone 'close' and important must be a darkfriend and who is the most major character that we never get a point of view of . Doesn't that seem a little odd . We know his brother is , and he also discovered Aldeaes's body . I remember the Black Ajah saying that they had some support in the Palace , I originally thought one of the sisters there but it could just as easily been Lan . Another thing that just occured to me , Demandred and Aginor were set to watch Rand , Aginor was Dashiva . Lan vanished after Moiraines dissappearance only to reappear later . Demandred was very very good with a sword . If he could convince Nynaeve , he could convince Rand . Much as I dislike the idea , Lan as a darkfriend would answer a lot of questions , Lan as Forsaken , well it would put the cat amongst the pigeons .
Go for it fire away .

Lan can't be a darkfriend if you consider New Spring to be part of this. Which I would say you should, considering that 1. RJ wrote it 2. It directly involves characters we see in the books.

:( Awww Archely u beat me 2 the punch. How 'bout I flesh ur answer out a little 4 the benefit of any other forum surfers? :p ?
Okay let see if this works:
When Lan was just a babe, he was given 4 gifts: 1. the signet ring of the Malkieri Kings, 2. a gold locket from his mother, 3. the sword of the Malkiere Kings, and most importantly 4. an oath sworn in his name:
"To stand against the Shadow as long as iron is hard and stone abides. To defend the Malkieri while one drop of blood remains. To avenge what cannot be defended."
On Lan's 16th nameday, (when he received his hardori) RJ writes as follows:
"And the dark song of the Blight had become a howl that drowned every other sound. The oath that had murmured so long in his heart became a dance his feet had to follow."
[got 2 butt in & jus' say RJ certainly has a beautiful way with words wot?]
So ya see Lan can't be a darkfriend. 1. "gifts" is a positive connotation, 2. the "oath" was in Lan's "heart" as in what he feels strongly about, 3. Lan considers the fight against the Shadow a 'personal' war, 4. Lan is a man of duty, often quoting 'death is lighter than a feather, duty heavier than a mountain'. He could therefore never forsake his oath.

Plus, we know Moiraine isn't/wasn't a Darkfriend. If Lan is, wouldn't it have carried through the bond somehow so she'd have known?

I'm going to "Me too!" this one: It's not Lan's brother that's a darkfriend, since Lan doesn't have a brother. Isam is Lan's cousin and one that Lan is aware of as still being alive/existing.
For Lan to be a Dark Friend would serve no purpose for him. What could he possebly gain? Eternal Life?

This isn't exactly clear. Don't the dark sisters talk about how they "fuzz" the bond so that their warders don't know what they are up to?

but you have to remember what happened when elayne fuzzer her bond while rand and her were... um... you know... well... the stork comes... no... when a man and a woman love each other th... no... alright. making babies.

sure, you can mask the bond (to some extent, probably requires practice) but arent the AS supposed to be able to sense the DO minions? Or is it the warders that are sensitive to that?
supuradam

they both can... if you remember in the beginning of tgh, when they're up in the mountains of mist i think... or whatever's east of arad doman... when the trollocs desend on the camp, and rand's off in his sulk spot, perrin is down by the fire with lan, and at the same time lan jumps up and draws his sword, moiraine bursts out of her little hut followed by the tu'athan woman. i guess that either means they both sense the do's minions, or that one of them sensed the others feelings of... hate? anger? fear?

But you've got to admit, Lan would be a good addition (and 100x cooler) if he joined up. Malkier was engulfed in the shadow, why not it's true king as well? I can't believe no Forsaken or other notables have a grip on him with an intent to subvert. Look how much the Aiel respect him, even.

I can see your point Wulfy but its LAN! C'mon why not Mat or Perrin or Elayne or Galad. Yeah how about Galad!

Hey just cuz Galad is super good, doesn't mean he should be cast off to the shadow. I think Gawyn is more likely. Also Lan would die b4 joining the shadow

Well maybe he'll bring his future love interest, Berelain, if he crosses over.

Did anyone consider the bond? I know it was said that Aes Sed can block their bond to keep there warders from telling whether they are Black Ajah or not, but can warders do that.... I think not. Also if people are still into this whole Demandered/Lan thing, forget it. The bond that Moraine passed on to Myrrile(sp) would be severed if Dem. killed Lan or if he has him locked up somwhere she would be able to tell that he is not where he looks to be. So that counts that out. Also, Lan is way to freaking cool to be evil, I say Isam is enough evil in the family.

No personality? Have we read the same series? The woman is smart enough to use her body to preserve her Kingdom. She is shrewd and she doesn't give up. Though I personally don't like her, she is ok. Not my favorite but she represents real people that exist in our world
