While it is childish and mediocre writing, the story is fun, and I rather enjoy it.

For my part I think the way she gots to write is wonderful . She uses simple word ,, but by the way ,it is not childish. She gots a true talent to describe and re-create feelings and thoughts of young teenagers. for my part, in the " Goblet of Fire" I found a very true impression of déjà-vu as when I was younger, and get same pb of friendship and school feelings and attitude towards teachers or things like that....
She gots a very good interpretation of what's going on in a young's brain... and thats' for why she got a whole and such complete succes all over the world ,and why so many children around Harry's age feel so concerned by him.
I think thta she had the genius to mix litlle adventures at school or somwhere else we all get one time at least and a story of witches and witchcarft . this was a damn good idea. She translate all those young experiences in a world where the reader can identify and out of his own reality, enjoy a fantasy reflection of some actual or old remains.
but of course this is my advice , and I respect evrybody disagreing me.
*but with good arguments* :D

nope actually i agree fully, Hp kiks arse, i know its not everyoens cup of tea but i think when you spend most of your time reading books like WoT and SoT, which can get quite heavy and serious at times its good to read books that are 95% fluff, its a nice break from the end of the world, Refreshing

Personally, I don't like it... too much fluff, and the books all have the same plot, and Harry's an idiot... but to each his/her own. The film producers are throwing a fit over it. Apparently, Rowling won't let them take out ANYTHING from the books when it goes into movie form- not even if the book is 768 pages long. There has been speculation that she suffers from "Tolkien envy"

they are decent books, imo......being aimed at a younger audience you really have to take them for what they are: children's books. people who say, 'well gee, i would have really liked to see more advanced dialogue' or 'the plot in book 3 was really lacking.' and other things like that are morons. if it really bothers you so much that a kids book is lacking more complex elements then don't read them. its not like you went out and bought a harry potter book not knowing what you were purchasing. =\

some of the books i read, you guys would think were bloody terrible probably!! youd kick my arse for them in fact, so yeah, to each his own. i just got this thing against HP for some reason. i dont even know why, for the audience its aimed at, its very successfull. i can admire rowling to a degree, just cant stomach her!!

I think they're okay, but nothing special. I mean, there are so many other good, quality authors that are a better use of my time than rowling.
It is good that HP has gotten so many kids to start reading, though.

mmmmmmmmmmmmmm drew barrymore,
but its good that now all the similar books of the genre (IE His Dark Materials) are now being noticed and are all being turned into films :)
and its a good things shes not letting them take stuff out, coz then thery would be rubbish, if it takes to films then make two films damn them

that is a fantastic trilogy. but i also have to say that calling rowling a "decent" writer is an interesting thought coming from people who read wot...i personally think rowling is a very good children's writer...and it's really hard to write children's fiction. really hard.
