I'm currently reading WOT for the first time, on The Fires of Heaven right now. I got to thinking: Why doesn't the dark one just send 13 black Aes Sedai after Rand? Or he could just have them around when Tarmon Gai'don comes. They could probably get to him before he found out, and cut him off from Saidin. He doesn't remember how to shield people from Saidar, and he's (extremly) reluctant to kill women.

Because it's not that easy to do, even RJ said that the weaving was difficult, and that it would just be more efficient to use other means (such as torture).

And even if he was captured, people would not just idly sit by and let the Dark One get away with it. And, again back to RJ, he has stated that there is more to the Wheel than Tarmon Gai'don.
The Dark One's aim is to break free from his prison, and it might be better in the long run for his interests if he let's Rand go his own way. As for anything else I might want to add, I'll leave it and let you finish the series before I accidently reveal something.

And, of course, this is a book. Books don't always have to make logical sense like that. It's a plot device.

And, it's RJ. He doesn't have to make sense. He can do whatever he wants. :umm:

and besides 13 Aes Sedai, they would have a hard time getting to him with him being surrounded by the Aiel all the time.
