View Full Version : GWINNA's a fake

I'm a new member, and as I was going through the art gallery for the first time, I noticed something familiar about GWINNA's work. Then it hit me! They looked exactly like the character models created by the hero generator on rpggenerator.com! So, either GWINNA has the uncanny ability to make his drawings look as if they were made by a character generator or he used that hero generator to make his 'drawings'.
Personally, I'm disgusted that he has so little respect for his own talent and our intelegence that he would create characters with a hero generator and submit them as his own drawings! It's just sad.

hmmm... I wondered how he was making quality art like that. It sure wasn't natural talent afterall, the bungler.

I responded but it was deleted.. so all I have to say to that is
WHATEVER.

Beowulf, I don't know if your responce has been deleted or if there's been some tech. difficulty. If it was deleted, I can presume it was because you riled up abit against this guy? (Edit: Maybe you've just missed that this guy seems to have accidentally have made two threads, there is a responce by you on the second thread by the same name and content. I'll move it here)
Wulfbrother13: Yes, GWINNA has used some kind of picture generetor to create his characters. That is not something that GWINNA has denied, rather, he even stated this outright the first time he posted these pictures on the old forum. According to himself (and stated on his homepage) the program he's used is HeroMachine. Do you truly think that we are total idiots here and that we wouldn't have noticed that the pictures were made with a generator?
The choice to put these pictures up in the art gallery was our choice, GWINNA himself didn't think that they were worthy of comparison. We thought that they did have a place there. Generator or not, they are still his interpretations of WOT Characters/creatures, not "fakes". I advice you to check your facts ALOT more carefully in the future if you plan on making these public accusations a habit.

Your right, Jacob, and I apologize. I should not have jumped to conclusions like that, and I apologize if I've offended anyone. But I still must stand by my opinion that it isn't really ART if a program makes it for you, and I agree with GWINNA in that it isn't worthy of comparison. I would also like to say that I didn't mean to imply that anyone was an idiot, however, if you put something like that on your ART page, I might have to question your sanity.
Jean
25th January 2002, 21:09
Well, you'd be questioning MY sanity then, because I was the one who put GWINNA's art on the page. If you have any problem with my choice of artists or choice of things to include on the site that I helped to create, I don't give a fuck. We include what we feel like in the gallery and everyone deserves to have a chance to display their art, or their interpretations of wheel of time characters. With the exception of one or 2 artists, I personally placed every piece of art in that gallery. I see nothing wrong with any of it, and if you do have a problem with it, don't look at it.
I apologize in advance to Mike who doesn't like me to use bad words. But I'm a bitch when it comes to insulting the art gallery I worked so hard to put together.

sorry, that's just my opinion, and if u don't like it, deal with it. once again i apologize for any offense, but like i said, it's my own personal opinion, jackass.

Me thinks we need a new gallery: the Art of Cursing :D
And I stick with Jean here, and Gwinna. Gwinna's cooked up his impressions of WoT characters. It's just as simple as that.
Look around in the art world. How many pieces of crap are there?! How many times do you see things that even you could have made (and better)?! Well, no one did make them, but the artist did.
The same sort of thing applies to Gwinna here. He did what no one else has done, and believe me when I say that he spend much time on creating these. No matter how you look at it, his work IS the result of a creative flow.
Now, can we all try and be a little nicer to each other, and leave the goddamn cursing?!

Look, Mike, you may be right, you may be wrong. All I'm saying is, in MY OPINION, since someone else drew all the components for the characters ad he simply put them together, it's not HIS art.
That's all I'm saying.
Cypher
26th January 2002, 12:33
Ah, but it is his art, he did put them together in a certain way that hadn't been done before, didn't he, not that I've seen these programs that make the artwork , but by the way you describe it is that there's components out there that are already "drawn" but they were not put together piece by piece till Gwinna did it.
Wolfbrother13
26th January 2002, 13:28
true, true. u make alot of sense, but i still refuse to say that it's his art. by the way, r u the same cypher from wota?
Cypher
26th January 2002, 16:08
Yeah, I went to wota to see what it was like, but don't ever expect me to go back into that chat thing, I didn't like it at all, having to refresh the whole page to see anything new, not advisable for anyone with slow internet connection
Wolfbrother13
26th January 2002, 18:46
i totally agree w/ wut beowulf just said. also, your right about the wota chat. it's just lucky i have cable modem, heh heh.
Cypher
27th January 2002, 09:46
you should drop by this chat if you ever see someone is in it (normally me) but I also have cable modem and set the autorefresh at 10 seconds and by the time it auto refreshed and brought me down to the bottom of the page 4 seconds was gone and I barely had enough time to read new messages, do you have the auto refresh, or do you just manually refresh?
Wolfbrother13
27th January 2002, 13:45
i dont set the auto refresh, i just send a lot of messages and hit reload a lot. u should really come back by there sum time, the people r real cool, just watch wut u say bout/to mandi & mierin

Is that site working, I've tried going to www.wota.com for the past 2 days and it hasn't let me in, or is the site .net or .org? I'm pretty sure it was .com, maybe the server's down?

Hey I have to agree with this guy on this people. Ive been to the site (its not www.rpggenerators.com)www.rpghost.com and its exactly alike. Besides all of the drawings are in exactly the same pose anyway. I'm not trying to make Gwinna look bad or anything but you can't just take the generated pictures and say you drew them. Thank you for your time.

HaHa. Dont worry about making GWINNA look bad, he does that well enough on his own.
Jacob

Aaarrrghhh! Okay, I'll try this one more time: The main reasons for GWINNA's pictures to be in the art gallery is as follows:
1. The very thing that inspired us to create the art gallery section was these pictures being posted on the old wotism.net forum, these were the first pictures to be put up. It was done as a community thing because wotims.net is first and foremost a community.
2. GWINNA made them and GWINNA is a long time member of wotism. This site is more about wotISM than WOT persay. It maybe heard for someone new to grasp the differance between the two, but there it is. Jean and I decided to create this site not for our love of WOT, but because we love wotism.
Does that make it clear enough?
Beowulf
14th February 2002, 12:45
I think if you're going to use them, it's only fair to make a link to the site where the generator is located.
Jacob
14th February 2002, 13:40
Why should WE do that? It's not our pictures, it's GWINNA's pictures. GWINNA made these pictures, GWINNA's put a link to HeroMachine's website on his homepage. We simply link to GWINNA's page, I think that that is more than enough. Alot of our artists use some kind of software in making their pictures, should we link to all these sites too?

LOL
Hey you can do what you want and justify it however you like. In fact, I had a big long post about just WHY you are wrong in your logic. But to prove I don't care and that I see you're not open to anything, I'll just give you a big, "GO JACOB!" and be done with it.
GOOOOOOOOOOOO JACOB!

Hi Wolf!
Arienn
16th February 2002, 02:45
yeah, someone likened this to modern art - most of it's crap, and you don't have the power to tell the museum to close the exhibition, but you also don't have to pay your money to see it anyway :) You can't fight the establishment, we're just the little ppl. And anyway, don't you dare bitch about jean, jacob or mike cos they worked their butts off for this place, and we have to let the slaves have a bit of a break now and then ;)
Anyway, i think the guy that drew the generator's pieces is a crappy artist anyway! :D:D IMHO of course.
