sorry if this series has already been mentioned a whole bunch of times here but i'm new so i know no better.
anyhow, if you have not read it or do not know of it i suggest looking into the series. one of my favourites. then again, i've liked everything tad williams has written.

I'm on the last book of the four book series of Otherland. I'd have to say that it was a good read, yet sometimes dragged in spots. I don't want to give anything away but one plot element you could say was akin to George R.R. Martin which really pissed me off (not the writing, but just what happened) Other than that, it was good.

So basically you're saying a really good character dies.

what, a good character dies in martin's books? I must've missed that part.

I just bought the first two books from the Otherland series, although I don't know how long it'll be before I start reading. The covers make the books look good, although there is always that famous saying.

the covers are sweet - as are the books, my friend.

i also suggest checking out memory, sorrow and thorn by tad williams once you are done otherland. it gets a bad rap but it is an excellent trilogy.

Great series. A bit of a let down at the end, but good nonetheless. Character development/realism is far better than any fantasy series I've ever read. The Dark Tower by Stephen King is probably the only one that beats it in that regard.

I thought that the Otherland books were excellent. I don't know what I was expecting when I started to read them, but I liked it. I hadn't read anything quite like it before, which made it even better. Sometimes I tend to get depressed by all the seeming clones in book series. (they might be good, but it's the same sort of stuff)

I also really enjoyed Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn. That was the only reason I read Otherland. Tailchaser's song was pretty good too...different. I had never read anything written from a cat's point of view before.
