Like........ How many soldiers were in Sammael's Illianer army? Rand said "A great army". And how many were in the Tairen,Illianer, and Cairhienin army at the beginning of PoD? *sigh* So many questions......

A 'great army' at the beginning of the series was only a few thousand soldiers. Now it is tens or hundreds of thousands, plus a few channelers.

I think its more impactfull without numbers. Like now matter how big a number he gives, we can always say...Well that isn't so many.

Well, the Seanchan know a lot about channeller equipped armies fighting other channeller equipped armies, but they still use regular soldiers (and weird animals) for troops.

I think that it simply makes sense to use all the weapons you have, especially given what tends to happen if those kinds or armies meet.

The channellers will zero in on each other. They'll try (and often succeed) to neutralize each other, and the side with the bigger, better army of ordinary folk wins in the end.

That's why the Seanchan are such an interesting match for Rand. Not only can they match and perhaps exceed his ordinary manpower, but their fighting channellers have been doing this kind of stuff for decades as well, whereas the Asha'man, formidable as they are, have only been at this for months.

Of course, the Asha'man being men, and the Seanchan being deprived of the ability to link properly tips the scales in favor of the MIB.

Alivia? Pretty much the only thing damane are taught to do is destroy stuff unless they have a talent with metal or something. Then the damane gets to wear a ribbon in her hair!
