Eye of the World - Scarves?

Little confused here. At the beginning of chapter 31, Rand and Mat have scarves, from a farmer who gave them a ride (before they get to Four Kings). But they don't meet him until the next chapter, after the Four Kings when they're running from Gode! What's up? Is this a mistake?

No, I don't think so:

Rand remembering: pg. 455: "It's not much, but here. Belong to my boys. They have others. You don't know me, understand? It's hard times."

Later on: pg. 496 "It's not much, but here. Belong to my boys. They have others. You don't know me, understand? It's hard times."

Yeah, well that's what I meant by badly done. As in handled badly, or in a confusing manner, or just badly written.

This is an old thing that confuses lots of people. You should read the FAQ if you haven't already.

I love how Robert Jordan does not always write in a chronological order.

He does it in Book 1 and then does it alot for the prologies in the later book and even the entire book 9 takes place before book 8 really ends.
