For those of you that don't know Crossroads of Twilight's prologue is going to be released as and E book on July 22 I'm just curious about how many people plan on purchasing it for 3.50.

I hate people like you, making posts that have nothing to do with the topic.
On that note...

~indiscriminately hates everyone for hating people who do stuff~
~the hate is so strong it turns to love~
i will not buy e-books. never. it is just not reasonable. Especially for just the prologue of a book, which is often realeased for free. Particularly when buying the book will cost me nearly $50 as it is. also, it hurts the eyes to read a lot on the computer. well, it hurts me, because i like to curl up with a good book, and it's kinda hard to curl up and read in front of your commp.

I will try to get it for free from someone who has stolen it. Like I did with the prolgue to Winter's Heart.

According to the poll most people won't buy the bloody Prologue. It's a bloody waste of $$.

I love spending money and I love the WoT so hypothetically if you send me a pm with your email adress, I will hypothetically send you the book on July 22 (unless they hypothetically somehow safeguard against that).

Why torture yourself for 3 1/2 extra months by not knowing how all the stuff you read about ends up?
But I might buy it bcause it has so much extra stuff and costs a lot less than WH did (and it is longer). If I do buy it I will wait until at least October to read it though.

All this talk of hypothetical reminds me when I hypothetically  shrunk the font and printed out like 15 pages of some other prologue :umm:... cant remember the name of it right now :D, but LOL it was like font (4) and I did it for that reason Anita,.. I wanted to curl up with it and read it on my bed. My eyes were soar but I was happy :D

Either I or my Sister is going to buy the book, so there is no way in hell I'm paying for intellectual property rights twice! Isn't the fact that I buy his books instead of ripping them off online enough for RJ, he wants more!

as i recall, the prologue for WH was approximately 1/5 of the book.. i read it online from someone who had posted it up... i think this time i'll wait.. that way i can enjoy the entire book in its entirety... i think it'll be more pleasurable that way...besides i certainly will not pay the fee to read it early..

I really find it quite impossible to wait, so I'll try to acquire it if I can. For free.

I didn't buy the prologue for Winter's Heart, and I will not buy it for any other book. I start rereading the books as soon as I hear that a new one is coming out, that way, I am almost finished by the time the new one is out, and I am once again up-to-speed with what's happening. To buy the e-book prologue would just make me want the rest of the book anyway. I have patience, I can wait.

Harun what is your favorite P2P software? :)
Jacob
3rd July 2002, 07:52
I'll rather slowly bleed to death than pay intellectual property rights twice. Damn it, I thought that RJ had learned his lesson the last time! And no, I didn't buy Snow either. Chavv, I don't generally use peer to peer software, but I have you on my icq list...:-)
I thought it was Tor, not RJ cashing in?
Jacob
3rd July 2002, 21:19
Nono, it's all RJ's thing, Tor doesn't get a cent from this. While RJ's got a contract with Tor for publishing his books, that only covers what's published on paper, not the "electronic" publishing. I guess that back when the contracts were made, noone even considered such a thing as E-publishing. Tor still got alot of the blame for this by fans who didn't understand that this was none of Tor's doing though.
Anyway, I see that like the last time, it's Scribner (and inprint ofSimon & Schuster) that's publishing the ebook. And I guess something that is especially worth noting is that all this is done in co operation with Wotmania and Dragonmount and there will appartenly be links to characters lists (etc) on the Wotmania and Dragonmount site incorperated into this Ebook. I think theres a saying that goes "there's no such thing as bad PR" and both those sites will surely gain from this, not the least in their credibility's as leading WOT sites. Personally I have some mixed feelings though. I guess I could be jelous at their Super Duper Status that they're now getting but...would any of you people want us here at wotism to take a part in promoting this Ripp off had we gotten the chance, considering the great amount of publisity it would've given us??
GWINNA
3rd July 2002, 22:50
Originaly I thought the snow thing was a test to see if the E-thing would pay off in terms of books, but charging for every prolougue? Gee, why not piss off our costomers as much as possible, that will increase sales!
Jacob
4th July 2002, 21:20
I do wonder how well they really did with Snow. Surely it can't have done all that well with people getting so pissed off and cracked copies getting spread so quickly? Maybe they learnt something by making it cheaper this time. I actually have to admit, had it been just $2 or maybe $2,5 I may have been tempted to buy this one. BTW: I saw on wotmania that he'd posted the cover for Glimmer (the prologue). A cover picture for an ebook sample chapter of a book?! What the heck do you need cover art for an ebook sample chapter for? There's no cover to actually COVER! And the cover being the exact same one as the cover for the actual book anyway.
Anyway to clear off from my last post: I do honestly offer my congratulations to Wotmania and Dragonmount for this momentus recognition that they've gotten. Had be been given the same oportunity, I really can't see us having turned it down.

Honestly I think we should set up a consortium with Wotmania and Dragonmount, each site diffrent and seperate but with some close ties for exchanging information, news and such. I think some incredible things could be accomplished. Plus with such a consortuim it sets the three sites as the "best" wot sites.
BTW, how was the email thing going? I remember talk about a @wotism.net thing but not what was decided on.
Jacob
4th July 2002, 22:55
We sort of canceled the idea with the email because hardly anyone was interested. And no, we'll not set up any such thing with Wotmania and Dragonmount. Why would they even be interested? Why would they even be interested? Why would we be interested? We're not talking about a partnership with equals here ya know...
Wotism has, and shall always stand appart from all other WOT communities.

Well I know were superior but we could let them bask in our glory alittle, it would help out their two-bit sites, but since we are going to hog the glory I won't push it any further.
