For those of you who can't do without the Wheel of Time Forums, here's a nice add-on for your taskbar (yes, Windows):

1) rightclick on the taskbar
2) In the popup menu, goto Toolbars and click New Toolbar...
3) In the folder field, type: http://www.wotism.net/forums/ticker.php
4) Click OK

You might want to increase the size of the taskbar a bit, and play around with the layout. But there you go, all the latest activity brought right to your desktop (refreshes every 3 minutes). Now you'll never have to miss out on anything :D

Okay, this must make this the coolest forum ever or something! Now I'll only have to wait and see if this get's really annoying :-)

If this gets annoying?! Did you forget to wear something warm while skiing, because I think your cerebral cortex (http://www.neuroskills.com/index.html?main=tbi/brain.shtml) has been frozen.
Since when can anything wotism get annoying :D

Man, you must have been BOORED during the weekend if you actually take the time to look that page up! LOL!

Soo....can anything like this ticker be done for the chat too? Cause THAT would be the bomb...

Edit: I've just gone to the forum main page....yep, it's confirmed, you're BOORED!

Umm, yeah, well, hehe :D

Guess I was bored. I'm eager to get some stuff done, but I can't really focus, so I've done some lightweight stuff.

And I think a ticker for chat can be a little hard on the server. Maybe something in between...

Small extra:
the toolbar now also displays who's active in chat (if any...)

That do be great indeed :) Now, let see if I succeed in incerting a screenshot of how the ticker may look like to give you an idea...

(it scrolls vertically and shows the currently active in the chat in the end of the scroll)

Latest update on the ticker:

it now shows who's online at the forums also

Mike

Yeah, I know, some things changed. Need to update the thing, in time.

Do people use this thing then?

*notices a <marquee> tag in the html code of the ticker*

*proceeds to slap Mike from here to Little Tokyo*

Bad Mike, bad! ;) Don't use silly Exploiter tags that aren't endorsed by the W3C (http://www.w3c.org)!

*notices his marquee tag not being displayed*
Hmm, I dare to hope ... *looks to the bottom left* Oookay. Exceedlingly bad idea... Don't allow us to use HTML please. Major security risk and all that... (If you won't take my word for it I could give you some examples, but I'd rather not...)

Mike

This was a project of Mike's. Mike is no longer an active member, so there probably won't be any more work on it, and I doubt it's supported anymore.
