I have been reading the short tid-bit of the Continent of Madmen, and I wish to know more does anyone know more, besides rj, as to what the heck is up with that place.

methinks it is australia. :D

um, i dunno.... setup for a spin-off series?

maybe it's not really a continent of madmen, it is merely a place where they trap lightening for some crazy thing called 'electricity', which makes thier houses always have lots of light, even at night, and they have a magical communicating device called a 'cellular phone', which they hit randomly and then can talk to people who are far away, and another evil and crazy thing related to the 'phone' called 'telemarketers'. *revises statement about australia* clearly.... it is north america. they just need to send someone to discover it. :D :)

Whatever I do know that they kill everyone that arrives there. And I'm pretty sure that their tribal. other then that I really don't think that their going to contribute a whole lot to Taimon Gaidan

Give me one good reason why the "land of the MADMEN" is NOT aus...

It could be the Randland equivalent of Australia...

Anyway, they are all crazy bcause they don't gentle male channelers and so maybe it rubs off on other people. Maybe now with the taint gone they will not be crazy. It probably isn't very important to the series, except as a way to use up the space at the bottom of the world. (Just like Aus. takes up all that otherwise empty space south of Asia... But if we didn't have Aus we wouldn't have platypuses!)

yes, and we MUST have platypuses

 Silly . . . the taint cannot "rub off" on other persons.

Another thing! With Saidin cleansed, they'll just become more power hungry. Then maybe they'll attempt to subjugate Athan Miere visitors instead of eradiacting or frightening them. :dozey:

I think that time was spent on his vietnam tour(if I remember right?) so I doubt it, however it is possilble. Most likly he will turn it into another series, TWOT-The MAdman series, thats what we need more spinoffs! :dozey:

Where was Graendal talking about that male channelers are allowed to channel for 7 years then they "Mysteriously" die... is that Shara? Or somewhere else? She was never quite specific from what I can remember...

no they weren't channelers, they were the leaders that were killed, the male children were killed shortly after they turned 21.

I think that what Sammael said in LoC i believe it was, "Events to the south have Demandred's name on them", I think that was referring to the 'Continent of Madmen'. I believe that Demandred set up all of those channelers, and they belong to the Shadow. I do not know much about the Continent, but i think they will offer something to the series, because if/when Rand learns of them, he will want them to be a part of his Asha'man.

Whatever happens there has been going on for a very long time... it would not have earned that name in the past 2 years that the Forsaken have been running around.

"Events to the south have Demandred's name on them",

A pretty vague statement, but a good point considering that Sammael had himself positioned in Illain at the time of that decree... but you missed the most important part of that statement... it should have been,

"Events to the south have Demandred's name on them despite how it ended",

Which means that whatever insite Sammael had to Demandred's plans, it was something that was already resloved in the storyline... Whatever is happining in the Isles of Madmen is still going on as far as we know

Are you a f*cking moron or something, Demandred is busy with the split one tower.

how do you know? he could have been talking about the BT. any place can be south depending on whether you are north of it. :D and when sam said that he was in Arad Doman with Graendal (I think).
AND why would a third forsaken be needed to mess with the split WT? Mesaana is with the TAS and Aran'gar is with the SAS.

I see TimGoldenboots; you are right, he could not have been reffering to the Isles of Madmen. You will have to forgive me, for when i stated that statement, i did not have the book in front of me, and i was just stating it from memory. I do not recall where i am hearing about this "Isles of Madmen", but Sammael's statement had sparked in my mind, and i connected the two.

TimGoldenboots, could you be so kindly as to describe the "Isles of Madmen" for me? It would be greatly appreciated :).

I think the whole damn place is full of people that arn't darkfriend but don't care one wit about shit. Like barbarians in the acient vikings!!! the were all crazy and stuff.

Ah.....this thought has just crossed my mind...we think that the 'events to the south' Sammael stated that Demandred was fooling with, are not connected to the Isles of Madmen because Sammael says "Events to the south have Demandred's name on them despite how it ended". BUT, what if Demandred had been gathering males who could channeling, in the hopes of becoming their 'M'hael' or something, but the madmen turned on him and he was forced to leave? So those events to the south still had Demandred's name on them, despite how it ended, with him not in control.

Think about it...

Demandoried (sp) is already the M'heal of the BT. I read somthing when skimming LoC last night.... "I will kill Sammeal and then Damandoried... but Sammeal first...." that was Lews Therins thought.. so he knows where Dmand is even if Rand dosn't!!! I am so smart....
