View Full Version : incomplete series....
damn robert jordan and his slow writing style..
i had learned to deal with the withdrawal pains by supplemented my time with reading other authors and series.. yet now its worse, because i'm waiting on the next installments on numerous other series..
let's see there's wot, janny wurts' war of light & shadow, martin's song of ice&fire.. melanie rawn is taking 6 million years to finish captal's tower... book 5 of harry potter wont even be finish until next year... sean russell's one kingdom.. terry brooks' morgawr...
~sigh~.. why do i do this to myself?...
i always fear that any of these authors could die ~knock on wood~ , and i'd be stuck wondering what happens my whole life...
so which other series are you guys waiting on...

yes, the WoT is like a gateway drug to the literary realm of fantasy. I know it was pivotal influence in getting me started on the genre.
DAMN YOU, RIGNEY!! 9 years of my life spent in a room reading your books!!!

Oh, the following books have been recomended to me The Necroscope series. They will be the next series I read, followed by some series of books by Anita Blake.. now what was the series called... ? ZEPHFI, anyone, anyone?
le sigh.. I am getting a lousy memory in my old age.

Steven King's Dark Tower series. Good thing he intends to finish it next.

Someone told me he doesn't plan to finish it. But it may be unreliable info... He has said it's the hardest series he has ever written etc etc, but it is a great series of books, if I was going to live in any alternate reality, I'd choose that one.

From what I understand, the next dark Tower book will be called Wolves of the Calla and will be about 900 pages long. I don't know about a date yet though...

Yeah, since he's going blind or whatever, he's going to write one more stand-alone novel, a screenplay, and finish up that series.

Everyone needs to open themselves to the splendor that is David Farland and the Rune lord series. So far it's three books long and also incomplete but each book gets progressivly better

david farland- runelord series
davide coe- winds of the foreland series
Kate elliot- crown of stars (I'm not really waiting for the next book to come out just to get some money to buy the third book)
Jordan and Goodkind (both of which I've considered giving up on a number of occasions)
George R R martin- song of Fire and Ice
L E Modesitt JR- the saga of recluse
Alice Borchardt- Tales of guinevere
david drake- lord of the Isles
david weber- the war gods oath or something (the newest book is Windriders Oath I can't remember the series name)
hmmm.... I thought there was more.. I'd recomend all of these, some more then others....

I tried reading David Drake's series, but it felt like torture. In recent years I've found that I have no problem giving up a series if I start to loose interest. I use to feel obligated to finish a series once I'd started it, but that changed with Terry Goodkind. I read his series up to Temple of the Winds, even went so far as to buy Soul of the Fire(I think that's the name) but realized that I was forcing myself to read it. It's a nice feeling when you finally say, you're not getting any more of my time Random Bad Author!

granted I could just be on crack and not know what i'm talking about....
