ok i got this theory after i read StoneDog's essay on the true power............

what if the true power is the opisit of the one power.....
the creator has control of the one power and the dark one has control of the true power
the creator(who crated man and all that) gave the one power as a sort of random gene or whatever to man (has anyone thought about Ogiers channling?) and then kida left the picture whereas the dark one(who is slightly less powerful) only allow his followers to use it and barely then. then, theoricly, anyone can chanel the true power not just people who can channel onepower (can Mordin channel the one power?)

Nice theory, but it raises a couple of counter arguments...

1) I don't agree with the whole control over the power thing...maybe the creator left the sence, but do you really think that if it was truely under his control that he would let the evil forsaken use it??(or any other dreadlord for that matter) Also why would the dark one keep such a truely power weapon under tight raps. I mean if i had an awesomely powerful weapon (can't be detected, etc...) I would use it...[Though i have to admit, it is sort of smart...considering Asmo[if he was allowed to use it], i mean you don't want someone who can use it defect to the other side so that they can use it against you...but then that raises the fact that if the DO had control over it, couldn't he just take their ability away??

2) yes Moridin can channel the one power

Just some food for thought...

well.....
we havn't actuly seen any real input from the creator, but we have seen major input from the DO.
maybe the creator gave the one power to humans before they knew about the DO and was and stuff andnow it s to late to take it back (ok maybe that is stretching it a little, but it is posible) also i figure the DO isn't as powerful as the Creator so he saves his power to give to special people only.
also maybe once the ability is given it can't be taken away(goes along with the creator thing)

I don't think that just anyone could channel the true power (with DO permission. If it was so, there is one really big question: What would determin how strong a person is? If you don't need to have "that certain something", should anyone then be able to channel unlimited amounts of the true power? I don't think so, I think that there's got to be something there to determin how strong a person is, and that certain something is the same as that persons ability to channel.

i think the only way for someone to channel the true power is to be tied to the DO directly, like all the forsaken are... remember when rand severed the asmodan's connection to the DO in their fight in rhuidean? i think it's that tie that allows people to channel the true power... and the reason they don't do it all the time: the saa... those little black specs that swim through a users eyes... the more you use, the more saa you get... and according to what we've read from some of the forsakens' point of view, using it is only a last measure type of thing b/c the consequences are just too great for even them to bear.

i think that the true power is from a direct link to the d.o. and the one power is somthing that is a little bit random(like genetics) and it was a gift from the creator, since he did, in theory, create the world in which they reside, therfor you could look at it like a gift, but i think that he dosen't usualy take a hand in who gets or who dosn't get the one power. i say usualy, because i am pretty sure that the creator took part and made sure that rand got a hand from him. thats just me though.
