Just wondering if anyone else around here plays the RPG that wizards of the coast came out with. I think Taylon mentioned something...If anyone is interested, maybe we could get an online or PBEM game going?

[Sorry if anyone doesn't think this post belongs here.]

Yup. I sure am involved in the WoT rpg. Actually, my screen name is based on my character's name (and my quote is directly from my character). My fiancee is running the adventure and some of our friends are participating as well. Oddly enough, I'm the only one running a character who's familiar with WoT.

We have one Ogier, one Two Rivers Archer (he's a Coplin no less), a Tairen noble, and my character.

It's actually rather amusing, as we have to give the other players some idea of how their character would react to a given situation. It works better than it sounds, with some very humorous results.

I'm playing in two groups right now. If you want to see the characters you can check out....

There is some other stuff there two, but I'm still working on it. Most substantial is the weaves section, they are collectively created by the guys over at the wizards.com boards. Are you on those boards? I'm archely over there too. One of our players isn't familiar with the world at all either, so I know how that goes. :)

I'm currently the gamemaster for a wot adventure. I've also played a two rivers woodsman. it's great. although I wish it was more unique, less like dnd, but hey, it's a great system

I know what you mean. The weaves are treated an awful lot like magic, but I guess that's the best they could come up with. But still, all things considered, in the hands of a knowledgeable gamemaster, it can still be a lot of fun.

Half the fun for me was creating an interesting background for my character. He's strongly tied into some things, but I didn't go overboard with it.

When are they going to combine rpg's with computer games?
Everquest is the best attempt i've seen. But still, it's too "defined." Why don't they allow someone to be a "gamemaster" for a computer RPG? Too much user control I suppose, but that's one of the best qualities of role play. :(

Are you saying that you want to be a GM for a computer game? I'd say that would be nearly impossible, it would require a huge, fully interactive world that had the possibility of being altered. That said, I think if it existed, it would be really cool. If you just want a computer RPG, check out Baldur's Gate. I can't remember the name of the next one coming out, but I know it uses third edition rules.

I was thinking of something very similar to everquest. Except that my game would spend a ton of time studing & planned sociology. The is too make a role playing game where people actually ROLE PLAY. To achieve that, the developers must spend extensive amounts of time trying to figure out how to make ignorant/uncreative people ROLE play.

I play lot's of Final Fantasy type role playing games. I have always thought a WoT RPG or even fighting game would be the shit.

I'm confused...is this something purly text based with rules or are we talking about a kind of computer game here? e.g. what the heck does anyone need in order to play this?

Anyway, in case someone didn't know this, there is a WoT computer game...I've never actually played it myself, but I hear it is of the first-person shooter variety. Not exactly what I thought would lend itself well to WoT style, but hey, who knows.

I, for one, am confused about what "this" is. Are you asking about what someone would want it to be....or what never winter nights is...? If never winter nights goes on the same format as baldur's gate I and II, it looks pretty much like diablo, except you can play an entire group and it is closer to an RPG.

I'm pretty sure Jacob wants to know if theres a WOT RPG in written format (there is) and what you need to play (some people, a gamesmaster, some dice and the sourcebook).

Yea Mann, that was what I was asking, thanks :-) Of course, what I was really fishing for was if it was something that we should look into about setting up here. (a board for that and such I mean)

Oh, i get it now. I overlooked that because that is what I posted the thread for in the first place, just to see if anyone else plays the non-computer, written RPG that wizards of the coast has made. I would say unless interest in this product suddenly skyrockets here, there is no need, I think anyone who wants to post something about it on the wizards boards. Not to say that I wouldn't like it though, i just think that it would receive little to no postings based on how many people answered this thread to the effect that they play it.

I for one would play it. I bet archely would as well. Jacob, you sound interested. That's three ppl, already enough for a game--not a great game, but still. I say build it,.....they will come.

I would defenently play as well. As for the WoT rpg on computer, I heard some about it. If anyone called a Ter'angreal a trinket, I'd have to shoot him:mad:

I'm not a fan of the computer game. I'd play the RPG. Announce it on the wizards boards and they will come.

Jacob

Errr...wouldn't that be like trying to steal Wizards gang?? And...errr...why would THEY come here if they've already got that thing going on over there??

Mann

Um. Shrugs. I never said it was thought through.

So I was under the impression that you (Jacob) were wondering if you should start a new board for the RPG, similar to the Theories board, for example. A place to discuss the RPG. Now I'm not sure if you were talking about that or talking about starting a game...? Why is it that I haven't been able to interpret this thread at all? Anyway, if it was a game, then it wouldn't really be stealing the wizards gang at all, as people post up games to play in all the time. The wizards boards aren't a game, just a forum to discuss the game. If you set up a forum to discuss the game, that is what I don't think would receive very many visits from the people around here...at least, based on the interest shown in this thread, it would be all of five or six people talking in there. Besides, what originally drew me to this place was the theories board, which in the beginning I used as a place where I could bounce things I came up against in the RPG off of people and see how they thought it would work.

And, oh yeah, if you start a game, i'd definitely be interested in playing, or, if nobody else can be found, GMing. (Although I'd prefer to be a player, I don't really have the time right now to be a good GM)
