I'm new here, so forgive me if this has already been mentioned:
In TFOH, when Rand's birth mother is mentioned, it is said that she was running from a husband and leaving behind a son. Is it possible that this son could be Galad?

Yes, Rand's mother was Tigraine, also Galad's mother and Elayne's distant cousin.
Rand and Elayne are related! Ewwwww!
But its distant, so it doesn't count.

Rand and Galad are half-brothers, they both have the same mother, Tigraine Mantear/Shaiel but different fathers.

Rand and Elayne aren't related.
Rand's mother was not Morgause.
Elayne dad was not Johnjubalugob of the Tarrdad Aiel.
Though it he might have been Thom?????????
Different parents altogether.
Everybody we know that is related to rand is a "BAD" guy, straight edge whitecloak and superphyco assasin with two bodies, or sumthing like that.
Elayne doesn't realy fit in so, even if there was some RJ twist, they couldn't be related anyway.
Sorry about the spelling, my last class before SB starts in three mins, kinda in a rush.

Umm, well, just because you don't have the same parents does not mean you aren't related. I'm reasonably sure that I don't have the same parents as my grandparents, but we are related. Okay, so that was an extreme example, but one more pertaining to the situation is cousins, I have cousins who I know do not share either parent with me, but we are related. Elayne and Rand are very very distant cousins, so much so, that most people do not keep track of that sort of thing.
And just because we haven't seen a closer relative of Rand's that is good doesn't mean that they don't exist.

I have a cousin.
She doesn't have the same mother as I do.
She doesn't have the same father as I do.
Are we related?
Rand's mother Is Tigraine, who shares a common lineage at least with Morgase, dating back to Ishara, the first queen of Andor. Due to Morgase and Tigraine having many ties to Ishara, or at least enough to make the claim to the throne, it is reasonable to assume that they are more closely related than simply Ishara. Therefore, so are their children, although not closely enough to make it disgusting. =]

Thank you tjrogue and archely. Apparently there are some people who can grasp the concept of distant relations...

quitwe early on in the piece i think it was in the stonew of tear, rand questioned thom quite heavily bout all this, and decided that he and elayne were relatyed, but by marriage only, and distantly. neither close nor by blood. so i say go rand, its all good. (scuse the spelling sorry);)

WAAUULL ILL Beeee!!!
I marreed my first cusin, she was pretty!!!!
And my ma an pa were prackickly kinfolk bifur they was hitched!!!!
errrrrr....... (i hear a banjo playing somewhere)
sorry bout that ;)
I consider first cousins, 2nd cousins to be family.
Get much farther than that and its more like friends than family.
So Rand can just go at it boy!
On a further note, has anyone considered what the possibility of Rand having sex with Elayne, Aviendha, and Min, All at the same time would mean? Since the ladies all share that bond, and feel even physical sensations together, the act together might prove to be near fatally orgasmic ;)
I dont know, just a passing thought.

This is somewhat on topic.
Has Rand ever questioned anybody about any Aiel relations that he might have? His father may have had brothers and sisters, meaning he might have some Aiel cousins running around fighting for him.

He hasn't questioned it, I don't think he will.
Why not post your orgy in the orgy or the fan-fic. RJ might mention t (though I'm doubtful), but I seriously can't see him going into any detail.

Well gee whiz, forgive me for letting my mind wander. But sometimes when a thought hits you, you just go with it.
As far as cousins, it would seem likely that he has some Aiel cousins running around. But the way Aiel look at family/clan, the blood relation would seem of little importance. Not only that, but it would be a whole other story line to tie into Rand. I think we have enough loose ends to tie up without adding another.
