A Wheel of Time Alliance

Hi all!

Some of you that are real "Vet's" of wotism or other wheel of time community's may remember wota - The Wheel of Time Alliance. In the early day's of WOT community's, it was one of the major players in WOT community's. In affect, WOTA and wotism(org) where the ONLY major WOT community's early on. Then wota went away and it's community was scattered. Like wotism, WOTA has now been reborn and upon seeing this, I contacted Aaron, the webmaster of WOTA. You might say I got inspired. Both Aaron and I agree that wotism.net and wota.com (http://www.wota.com) are not competitors and after a few exchanges of letters, we have agreed to cooperate. I think that both our sites will benefit from this alliance and a greater WOT community will be formed between us.

I can't really say yet what the final result this will have, but I have great hopes and if all turnes out well, I would not exclude the possibility of inviting other sites into the alliance

I must say, I had never heard of wota before reading your post Jacob. But after visiting their site, i must say that i am impressed and also glad that there are other "high quality" Wheel of Time web pages out there. I noticed a couple of things while i was there...they like it heavy on the eye candy (not bad though, it was done in a tasteful way)....they have less member than us(though it is debatable as to whether we have more "active" members)...and finally about their message board, ummm how should i put this nicely, I like ours better. ;)

In conclusion, as a member of the wotism.net community, I welcome this new alliance, and have high hopes for its continuance.

I've been wondering, Jacob. How can I put one of those socalled 'avatars' in my nametag? would be kinda cool, but it says in my CP that 'img' is turned off.

You mean like the rest of us (most of us) have avatars? You go to User cp/Edit Options and scroll to the bottom of that page where it says "avatar" (the rest is pretty self evident)

Or...if you mean to put a picture in your signature: That's a NoNo, the reason why I've dissabled the IMG tag for that.

Well, since you proved that having an avatar with a turtle in it is pretty ridiculus (although i liked the one with the lil' guy on the keybord) it won't be one of those. Just you wait, I might suprise you yet...

I'm curious about this alliance... I mean, before this, what was our status with them? Were we enemies? Did we declare war on them and I just missed it? Were we all supposed to make accounts on their forums and flame-spam them with hilariously bad insults like other message boards do when they're at war, or try to hack their server and change their background to a really blinding pink?

Um, sorry, got carried away there :umm: This alliance should be interesting. Ooh, and I can't wait for the new chat!

Forum wars are the stupidest thing since "Kids in the Hall". It's a completely worthless practice. The day wotism.net declares war on another forum is the day I find a different site to waste time on :)

Just out of curiousity, are any of the people here transplants from wotism.org? I lost touch with the chatters there in 1999 and would like to be able to get back in touch with as many as possible. Over there I was known as SmokingWater.

Does anyone frequent wota.com? I was updating our links page the other day and when I tested the wota.com link I couldn't get to their page, I tried it again now and still get nothing. Is it just me or has the site moved/ changed urls? I'd like to keep our links section up-to-date, so any info would be helpful. :D

The URL is still accurate as far as I know. The site went down about a month ago. And I haven't seen the owner online for about that long either. I've heard rumors that it SHOULD be back up in a week or two. But I can't say how accurate those rumors are
