Ok I had posted a theory I had at Wotmania and it didn't get much of a responce, except saying it was an old one. But I had never heard of it before, so I was wondering did anyone else know about a theory that Perrin will save Rand's life the second time by cutting off his hand?

If you need elaboration, I will post it later, but seeing as it was called an old theory, I guess it isn't needed.

Thank you

I, for one, haven't ever heard anything like that before.....

I think there is something to do with a severed hand and Rand, but I've never seen any connection to Perrin.... What is the elaboration on this one?

Ok, my severed hand theory goes that Min sees around Rand and Elayne the severed hand and a red iron and a white iron, but with Elayne the severed hand is not hers, which means that it is Rand's. What is interesting is that around Elayne Min sees an axe. My theory is that for some reason, Rand is somehow chained with a a'dam to Elayne because he has to rescue her from something. The a'dam makes him go insane (This is what happens to some males in Seanchan) and Perrin uses his axe to chop his hand off because an insane Rand is not going to be able to handle while trying to remove the a'dam. Perhaps this is where Perrin saves Rand for the second time. I know this is a rough theory, but it is something new and right now without any news of book ten. I know this should go to the theory post, but I put it in a long time ago and it wasn't published so I'm putting it here. Any one who has reasons to agree or disagree, please respond.

On Wotmania, someone said I was wrong because it was "bloody hand" seen around Rand, as well as that male Seanchan don't go insane with an a'dam link.

The Creator.

ANYWAY, back to the hand thing. I was rereading EotW, and I noticed at the end, after Rand channels, he says (or thinks) "I'll cut off my own hand before I channel again" (or something to that effect). Foreshadowing? I dunno, because of course he HAS channeled, but he hasn't cut off his hand. I dunno. ~shrugs~

This all sounds a lot like the one about Mat loseing an eye, I just hate things like this. I can't picture Mat without an eye as much as I can't picture Rand with out a hand. If RJ has any mercy, he will spare our heroes these awful fates.

Why cruel world do you mock me?!~mumble, mumble~

I think Mat will lose an eye, because he's supposed to be Odin, with the ravens and the spear and the hanging from the tree and all, and Odin gave up one eye.

OH, I just thought of another argument for the Rand thing! Rand is supposed to represent Tyr from Norse mythology (somewhat) and Tyr's hand was bitten of by Fenrir, a WOLF! Sorta like PERRIN!

As you eplained your theory, Moridin, I had in my mind the scene in Return of the Jedi when Luke checks out his new hand. Except that I doubt that Rand will get his had back. Great theory, good to see some new stuff.
