View Full Version : Clensing Saidin

The biggest most important thing Rand has done in the whole series happened in book 9, when he clensed Saidin. Think about it, the male half of the True Source has been Tainted since the End of the Age of Legends. Now 3000 years later It has been clensed again. This will change the make up of the whole world. In a world where men channeling is considered evil, where Men who can channel have been hunted down like dogs, are now free to channel their heart's away. I can't wait to see what kind of impact this is going to have on Randland. I was just so dissappointed with that part of Winter's Heart. That we didn't get more of a reaction the that happening.

What i want to know is if he actually cleaned all of sadin....you know, maybe he just took away some of it, so that the male channelers at the end of WH thought it was all gone, when in fact they were just so used to having all the taint, that when the majority of it was taken away it seemed like it was all clean. (it's hard to explain) Here's a bad example, but i couldn't think of a better one at the moment...
guy has 2 injuries (lets say that's the taint), ones a gunshot wound/or some other massive injury, and the other is a papercut. He gets the gunshot wound/major injury treated but the paper cut is still there. After having all the pain of the major wound, he wouldn't even notice the insignificant pain of a paper cut, which is still there. So, the majority of the taint is taken away, but maybe there's still a little of the taint left, which, could maybe with time, grow again....
who knows, maybe this is just me ranting and raving a little...;) :D

Best source to go by:
RJ said the taint was gone.

I don't think it works that way anyway, I think that if any was left all of it might as well been left. Either the source is clean or it's not i don't think there can be a half way cleaning of it.

Dude ... you all know that the Dark One is just going to slap the taint right back on it. Geeze ... act like you didn't see it comming.

This is so flaming infuriating! Everyone's talking Winter's Heart & I'm bloody left out because the Trolloc den of a library hasn't acquired a Worm-sucking copy of the Light-burned book! As I recall, the Myrddraal whorehouse took at least 4 Ages for The Path of Daggers to appear.
Now, I agree the best thing that ever happened on a worldwide scale is the cleansing. Unfortunately the cynic in me says the bloody Red bitches (pun intended :) ) will take a long time to accept that, & they'll probably come down with a bad case of psycho-confusion because the reason for the Ajah's existence is gone, & I don't think they'll go into other Ajahs (can you imagine a Warderless men-hating Red choosing Green? Ha ha ha...:) ). Of course the Salidar witches (Egwene, Nynaeve, Elayne, Theodrin, Siuan & Leane don't count as "witches" :) ) will have an easier time since they don't have Reds & Egwene knows Rand personally & supports the Black Tower. So the Tower whores either swear fealthy to Egwene or be stilled (& balefired :) ).

If that were so easy then saidar would have been tainted long ago. And maybe the whole world would become part of the Blight, & the story would have ended before it even got started. RJ wouldn't break the Wheel that easily.

Well then ... let's just take everything I say seriously! Sounds like bundles of fun!
I think Rands going to purposely let the Dark One taint the male half. Once he realizes how much he misses it ... it'll be over.

You know, you seem to be going insane. I think you've got the taint too. Time to get Nynaeve to do some Delving on you.

I tried, but QuirkyTemplate's got an anti-channeling ter'angreal so there's nothing I can do about that Light-blasted Whitecloak.

Hmmm, tell some of his wc buddies that he's actually a Dark Friend, cause he's got a ter'angreal (though just don't mention the part about it countering channeling and all, you know)...heh, heh, heh....he'll be in a dungeon faster than you can say Tar Valon Witch ;)

Hey, what do you know, great idea!! Why in the Light didn't I think of that!
~attaches a message to carrier pigeon~
There, now the fools at Amador will arrest him & take away the ter'angreal. Then I'll Travel to the dungeon &.....BALEFIRE HIM!! MUAHAHAHA!! (Alright, that was boringly predictable ;) ) Then maybe I'll look around for the ter'angreal; something like that would be very useful...

Speaking of white cloaks, the only cool white cloak now is Galad. Since Paden Fain turn Pedron Nail totally against Rand, otherwise he could have been cool. Padan Fain did the same to Elaida and to that whitecloak that alway's chasing Perrin, that's why their so dumb now.

I wouldn't even go so far as to say that Galad was a good WC. I seem to remember a certain swordsmasters thread which has already dealt with this...
Though Pedron Nail was cool in his "time" (as in while he was alive and before he was subverted) and so was his secretary (I totally forgot how to spell is name...and i'm too lazy to go check for it....i know it starts with a 'b' though....;) ) Even though now, he hates WC's, he was still one of them.
Let's see, yes the all the other WC's were pretty much dicks...

The whitecloaks are all chiz chummah, what would we do without a hate group in a fantasy novel?

I normally skip all the stupid whitecloak parts anyway, actually i skip everyting but Rand, Mat and Perrin parts usually but during this current read through I'm reading every thing. and I must say you do miss alot when you skip.
But white cloaks do suck.

Since when did Whitecloak & cool appear side by side? My opinion of Galad was alright at the beginning, until he joined that Light-burned cult with jello for brains. Then my opinion spiralled down to Thakandar.
And the Whitecloaks don't need Fain's help; they're very good at being dumb as it is.

Pedron Naill was cool if misguided, and I don't care what ya'll say Galad is still cool. But Gawn would be cooler if he could except the fact that Rand didn't kill his Mother and sister.

I'm just waiting for the moment that Galad finds out he is the Dragon Reborn's Half-Brother and what the WhiteCloaks will think of him then.

That is gonna be awesome, but I think Rand seeing his father again is to key to him finding laughter and tears again, cause I don't care who you are, your father always will effect you. Man it make me kinda miss my dad.

ok, i know this is a REALLY old tread (2 years) and there have probably been tread sinse that have cleared this up, AND i know none of the people in the tread, since they have probably left WOTISM or become inactive but here goes...
The source IS clean, because every turning we get the source tainted, then the source cleaned, so it is not cleaned. if it was not cleaned the DO would have no need to taint it next turning.
And i like the whitecloaks... they are stuffed up their own arses so far with their "i am the light" routine that u cant help but pity them... do they not realise that the head of the questioners is a darkfried? (i just reread the start of the great hunt and it tells of a questioner who calls himself bors being at shayol ghal, well it wouldnt mension him if he wasnt important now would it, so there is a good chance he is an ally... erm i mean darkfriend :)

Bors was Jachaim Carridin(sp). I'm in the middle of the Dragon Reborn right now. It's fresh in my mind.
