View Full Version : WoT Soundtrack and roll playing game
Can you believe there's going to be a wot CD out? I've put the info up on the site now. Click here to see the cover (it's by Darrell K. Sweet, kinda nifty) and there's also a link there so you can listen to some of the music, I won't post my opinion of it until you've listened. There's also some stuff on the page about the role playing game.
Enjoy!

Darn, typed the link in wrong the first time, NOW it works! Silly Jean...

I downloaded a couple of sample tracks from the CD, and I have to say that I won't be buying it. It just didn't feel WoTish to me- it might have had a better chance if the main Wot theme had had no vocals- the intro to it was okay.

I'm eagerly awaiting the role playing game, although I'm sure there will be a million things I'll want to change about it when it comes out. I think the WoTC were originally going to bring it out as a version of D&D, and then realised that it doesn't convert over that well (totally different magic systems), and so now it's just going to be d20.

I heard a sample of Moiraine's Song (or whatever the title actually was) and I liked it, actually.

This was the music for the PC game, right? So I've pretty much heard all of it, I suppose.
I think it's inspired by the game. Some of it was good, some of the songs with vocals weren't that good. But, the ones with just instrumentals were ok.

I'd like to see an album of metal music inspired by Wotism. Naturally.
Actually, it's not that out there, since a lot of power metal is quite epic sounding. In fact, the German power metal band, Blind Guardian cut an album that was completely and explicitly inspired by LotR. And it's damn good music, too.

I've yet to listen to this WoT soundtrack, though the cover art is neat.

Actually, I might just buy this one! I'm into a CD buying phase right now (occer once every 2-3 years or so) and I rather like the samples. Even though I like Elin's Wot songs a whole lot more! (those ARE really great...and I want them for this site!:)

I just thougth of a followup and since I don't like editing...

I think that if I could choose freely who would do the Ultimate soundtrack to WOT, the kind I had pictured would be with Queen in a style somewhat similar to their A kind of Magic CD (Highlander soundtrack). Now that isn't possible since Freddy Mercury is dead, but I think that had it been, it would have been a great album ~nods~

Well... I realize this is an old thread, but I have made some progress on this. I have a good microphone, and I have actually recorded some tracks, though I need to do it better. And I have to learn to use my music mixing program better...

Well, this might go in this thread, I guess... I have a favor to ask. I'm having fun recording all the songs I've written, and I wrote one when I was younger to the LotR poem "Where is the horse and rider" that Theoden (partially) recites in the movie. Problem is, I wrote a tune to the Swedish version, and I want to see if it fits the English original poem as well, but I don't have LotR in English. Could someone who has The Two Towers handy type it in for me...? I can't seem to find it on the web. I know that Aragorn recites/sings it sometime when they're in Rohan. Anyway, I'd be grateful... :)
