give me some song titles and artist info and I'll download it. I only buy CD if they're really good and I think the artist is worth supporting.

Yeah I also heard some snipits of the songs and they sound pretty lame. (I only listened to a couple of the songs so maybe i missed the good ones...who knows:confused: )

I think it's just another ploy to milk more money from the WOT. Hmmmm lets see, calendars, numerous reprints of the books(though some were necessary cause of errors, but just for different covers?? come on...), a companion book(which had some good info, but had some really FUNKY pictures in it), a RPG game, and now a music CD??? I'm not saying this is bad, hell, i love the WOT and any new thing i can get to feed my addition is good, but

a music CD????

I agree, especially those pictures in the source book, (although I liked the maps) my kid brother can do better, (he sais so himself), and all the rest of the gumph, except thecalendars (sells calendars), nah then again the're bumph (different calendars).

LaughingTurtle

Yeah there are calendars, the pics in them are of the covers of each book but in BIG size. There's also a map and such. You can purchase it at almost any large book seller...Borders, Barnes and Noble, etc,...well at least in the U.S....

what about harry potter.... I think they are the opitamy of the devil, why can't I write a book on my first shot and have it be so popular and have so many extra products come off of it... a movie the books a card game calanders toys I think a magazine... the list goes on for ever... I think we should lay off wot about this one, at least only people that have read the books are likely to buy it, unlike the evilness that is harry potter...

I have listened to the samples too and I don't agree with those that say it sucks arse. I think it sounds pretty good, actually. I like that Celtic/folkmusic type of music.

I don't think that it's greed that motivates RJ to let all these things released. Calender, music etc. I think that it's the even older desire for immortality, to leave some lasting impression behind:) Harry potter though...I think that the author is making a (greedy) misstake and all this over exposure is going to lead to harry potter being a fad.

Matt, while we're on the subject of (your) writing and first and all...I was kind of hoping that you would start sending us (to wotism@wotism.net ) some of those stories that you told us you have on your harddrive so that we could publish them on wotism. I still have hope....

 :p :D

Point of fact.

Those tunes aren't very celtic i n origin but quite modern (post 18'00's) in origin, and are psuedo-celtic. Like most things some of this style can be quite good, but the samples I listened to aren't a good example.

Shinote, and Jacob, I completely agree with you on the Harry Potter point.

Hey Jacob, is the writing thing open to all?? If it is, what kind of writing are we talking about here? I mean, is this fan fic, kind of WOT based stories or anything goes? I've started a fantasy short story or two of my own, though just the beginning so far, and i was wondering about it...

I am confused cause there's no writing section...art, theories, talk, news, and general, but no writting one.

Though when they would ever get finished is the real question  :D

That's why I said "celtic/folk type" of music. As in inspired by celtic or other types of folk music. Modern folk music, I guess you could say. Or should I say World Music? Bah, I liked it. Certainly is did not in any way suck arse and that it was WOT inspired helped. Is that a "wotists version of trekky"? Maybe abit. Same I guess, as liking WOT fan art. I like wot inspired music as I like Elin's recordings of actual tunes from the book. I guess in a way, I like Elin's music even better, but they don't add up to that much. (time vise)

Anything goes, basically. As long as it's fantasy. Not anything goes within fan fiction though, due to copyright issues. When it comes to fan fiction (wot based or otherwise) we can only publish satires and parody's. Why there's no secion? Because we've not had any stories to put up...and wotism.net is still pretty new (the old wotism.org have a few stories up still). Why no board for it? Well, because we have no stories section up on the pages because we don't have any stories to put up...

Once we get a stories section up, I expect that we'll add a board too, but I don't think I'll add a board for people to post stories on before that as I don't think a board is the best place to publish stories. For one thing, there are limitations regarding length of posts on the board. (controlled by us, yea, but they'll stay) Speaking for myself, I don't find board the most "atmospheric environment" to read stories from either :O

So, with that said, please, send us anything you've got and we'll try to get it up there as soon as possible! :-) You're free to submit poems too should you like btw, including WOT inspired. (we have a poetry section on the main pages in case you've not noticed...)

Thank you, Jacob. :)
Hmm, I have a bad conscience about this... I've been meaning to make better recordings for so long but I never get around to it. :(

The thing is, I need a place and the equipment to record it, I need to know how to convert it to sound files, and I need people to play instruments. Ok, if I made an effort I could get all these things, but it's just too far down on the list compared with other things in my life... I did experiment some with Esther (which is my choir's djembe drum - yes, the drum is named Esther, I know it's bizarre). Anyway, I tried out some different rhythms to go with the songs. I think it went well together, but of course I would sing better if someone else did the drumming... Oh well, it would sound good if it ever got drecorded.

For those of you who haven't heard the original recordings, made in my living room with an antique microphone, they're at http://www.wotism.org/readings/

Replying to me and talking about YOU having a bad concience about the recordings?? I am the KING of bad concience (and Procrastination)! I guess my two weeks are about up :-) (inside thingy, if you're not Elin...or simply somone that knows me very well, you probably won't get it)

Hmm....You're a student (and you do lectures) at one of the VERY top technical colleges in Sweden and you can't get access to a sound studio...I would have thought that they had studios...and that being a lecturer meant that you could just go there and boss everyone around

And no Mann, no other links unfortunately. Hopefully it's just temporary. If it's not, we can't do that much about it. We'll put this stuff up ourselves eventually and all, but not just now I think. (won't be streaming then either)

Oh, come on. You think the math department has sound studios? :) Possibly they do somewhere else on Chalmers, but I have no connections there... Plus I'm sort of inbetween the students and the faculty so my status is kind of vague, I can't really boss people around (except my students, of course :D). I'd have better luck finding a studio if I was at the music college...

Anyway, I do have a friend here who plays the piano at a church where they have pretty good sound equipment, and good acoustics too. I could probably get him to help me... the thing is, I think using a real studio could get expensive.

No, I don't. Hmm, you need RealAudio to play them, and you also can't play them while offline. I don't know very much about how they work.

Well, the Ultimate Frisbee team at Drew has a cow skull mascot who is named Bessie (and we worship her, too), so I guess it's not TOO weird.

When our choir leader got another drum, we debated about what to call it... it's larger, so we thought it should be male. I checked up who the husband of Esther was in the Bible, but we thought Ahasverus didn't really fit... The drum is still unnamed.

I don't know about you guys but doesn't that sound track look a little fishy? I mean...has Jordan no shame? We buy your books man, what more do you want? And it was pretty low how he turned Eye of the World into two books. (Shameless ploy for money anyone?)

Wheel of time sound track ... psht. You better have some Skynyrd or Hendrix on that thing if you want anyone to buy it.

I can understand where you're coming from on the splitting of the books issue, but it does have it's merit. Yes, I know they want to get more money, but hey, who doesn't??:D But as for a good reason why they are doing this is to expose more people to the wonderful world of the WOT. I mean, the first book is like 800 pages!! Kid's now-in-days don't read that much (if they don't have to) when they have TV, gaming consols, and computers to turn to for entertainment. So if you slap a 800 pg book in front of them, they'll just go back to their playstations. If you cut it in half, they'll be more likely to read and actually finish the book, and thus more likely to get hooked on the series. Normal readers can still purchase the reg. version, so it fine by me. I say whatever get's more people to like the Wot, the better, and if they make some money in the process, the more power to them.

As for the music cd, all i can say is that they won't have to worry about the music being pirated...say on direct connect, morphesus, etc...who would want to, lol :D
