My brother and I occationally have discussions on which ending is the best out of all the wheel of time books.

He says book six, and while agree that it was and awesome ending, I have to say book 2.

You have the Eqwene getting rescued, Rand's fight with the Seachan blademaster. You get Igtar redemtion of being a darkfriend and his sacrifice to save Rand and the others live. You have probly the one of the coolest things to happen in any of the books which is the Blowing of the Horn of Valere. You get to Meet Authur Hawkwing and the other heros bound to the wheel,
The conversation that Auther Hawkwing and Rand have is classic to me and even early in the series gives a true statement on just how awesome Rand really is.

and Finally you get the true sign that Rand is the Dragon Reborn when he fights in the sky against Balzamon.

To me this is the best ending and also my second favorite book.

you know I'd say that winters heart was my favorite ending, but it looked like rj dropped 50 pages off of it. I mean all those battles would have been great.... but nope... you see bits of it and thats it.... bastards.... :) I blame it on tor. somehow its all tors fault.... rj is going to realize that a bunch of papers fell out of his book and hes going to fix it I SWEAR it. oh well he probably won't...

Sort of hard to say, but I'm saying Lord of Chaos because it has one of my fav lines. "Kneel to the Dragon Reborn...kneel or you will be knelt." :D

I really liked winter's heart's ending, but the others have grown somewhat hazy in my mind so...

but yeah, most of winter's heart was soooo droning and unimportant, seemed like a lot of filler. the ending was fantastic, well, in a sense that so much happened that was cool. The telling of it was really lacking, I would have liked to see more scrutinizing details about the battles with the forsaken and dark friends rather than hear about some vendor's tray of pins or the arrangements of irrelevant things in relation to other irrelevant things.

I'd also like to see the story drop some of it's more tedious side plots and be more focused and brief. Does anyone else feel that way?

magatsu17, after reading your explaination I almost changed from 6 to 2.

BUUUUTTT....

the facts remain that in 6 you have probably one of the coolest battles fought in the entire series to date. Yes, in 2, you had the Seachan invasion, and the battle in the sky, but as shinote said it was kinda paraphrased.

While in 2, you have the emergence of the Asha'men, who show their might by kicking some royal ass, as they only know how. That coupled with a massive horade of Aiel, and the waves of wolves, led by Parrin to rescue Rand(which could be the parrallel of Rand rescuing Eqwene in 2). Then you have the AS kneeling...KNEELING to the Dragon Reborn. Is that cool or what?

Though 2 would deffinitly be my second most fav ending. Wait, then again 3 was cool cause rand got Callandor, but then there's 9, no maybe 1, ARRRGH it's too hard to decide...

*Sigh*Maybe it's just me being a guy but huge, cool battles always seem to win me over in the *ahem* end.

Don't forget about 4 with the Nyneve's battle with Mogheidan, Rand's battle with Asmodean , and the conclusions of one of my favorite parts of the series and what makes book 4 my favorite series Perin leading the Two Rivers to victory over the Trollocs. That part was Awesome.

6 ending is just awesome too though. I remeber when I was first reading it, and I found out Rand got kidnapped, It was about 1 o'clock in the morning and I knew I had to get up early to go to school the next day, but that didn't stop me. I sat there and read the rest of the book and finished by about 6 or so, just time enough to get dressed and sleep walk through school that day. It was totally worth it.

"I am Rand al'Thor, I am the Dragon Reborn"

That Line give me chills, and is still my favorite one in the series.

That line ALWAYS stirs my blood, I feel like getting up and screaming [control]

The end of Winter's Heart (although I agree no information just alot of fillers) was sooooooooooooooo breathtaking.

Do you understand what cleaning the saidan means? The ashaman and Rand will be unstoppable and what are the Red's going to do now? Ha Ha

No more reason to catch men with the gift, Ha Ha...

I LOVE WOT :D

I really like the end to book six ... but I gotta go with the first one. It's what sucked me into this whole strange Wheel of Time universe.

I flaming agree!! Making Aes Sedai kneel to anyone is 1 of the best scenes I hope to witness. At last those proud bitches have to climb down the high horse & kneel to ~gasp!~ a man who can channel, the very sort of thing they have sworn to deal with, especially the bloody Reds (pun intended :) ). Too bad Rand didn't still all those who kidnapped him. By the way, anyone knows how he stilled the 3 bitches? I didn't understand what he was doing with those "fists of Spirit" thing.

Also, I like The Fires of Heaven, because the theme seems to be balefire, especially at the end :). I've always liked balefire (alright, I'm stating the obvious) because it seems to be the solution to all problems. Don't like anyone? Shadowspawn? Ass Sedai? Whitecloaks? Darkfriends? Balefire them!! Then the Lord of the Grave can't simply rummage thru the Recycle Bin & restore them, so they'll be permanently out of your hair. Great idea, isn't it?

Yes, that's 1 more justification for stilling &/or balefiring them, since their existence is no longer necessary. On the other hand, they serve as good battle fodder. Send them into the Blight to slaughter every Shadowspawn in there, plants & animals. Kills 2 birds with 1 stone, hmm?

The 1st book was really boring at 1st. The real action happened only at the end. There was too little by way of interesting development in the 1st book. Mostly Rand & company running & hiding. Things heated up & started to get interesting only later down the series. Book 2 wasn't that impressive either. Things took off in book 3, though.

I'd argue that things slowed down after book 3. 4, 5, 6, 7, maybe 8 were all dull compared to 1, 2, 3, 'n 9. Then again, I'm only sayin' that cause the women in the story are so friggin annoying. Hopefully 10 will be very good. It seems like RJ is building a lot of the plot up for a huge kill-fest (Last Battle anyone?).

I don't get it. Things got interesting from book 3 onwards, when you have balefire :) used for the 1st time, & the whole Tel'aran'rhiod & Dreamwalking business. Rhuidean made things more interesting, ter'angreal & the like. And of course we have balefire in book 5 :) . Book 6 got really chaotic (pun intended :) ) so that spices things up a bit. I really like the blood & lightning at the end, culminating in the defeat of the Shaido & the capture (& stilling, hee hee :) ) of the Aes Sedai. Book 7 got wild with Power in Illian & Shadar Logoth, & so did book 8. So what's so bad about the later books? That's when the action really got going. I don't know about book 9 because (aarg!) I haven't been able to get my hands on it.

Man book 2 the bomb. You have Rand killing Trolloc's with a sword. You have Rand killing a blade master with a sword, you have Rand hurting Ballzomon(sp) with a sword.

also that's the book rand learns to channel, he goes of Galavanting with Loial and Harun and becomes a leader. the part when he's at the party in Caihern is hilarious. Book 2 is just a great book period.

Book:

1 - Very good, characters being developed, story is crisp, clean, well written.

2 - Same

3 - Rand goes into hiding, but Perrin's action more than makes up for it. Very good.

4 - People shuffel around in the Aiel waste. Women start to go off on their own journeys (not good idea). In short, nothing happens.

5 - Rand finally gets out of the waste, pimps on Lanfear, pimps on Rahvin (this is all cool.) Women's storyline is slowly going nowhere. Nynevae(sp?) totally ruins the whole thing with her braid pulling.

6 - I take it back, book 6 rocked.

7 - Rand gets in scuffel with Samuel. Samuel dies in most dissapointing way. Bah.

8 - Nothing happens until Rand pimps on enemys. Isn't this where Perrin's wife gets into that whole "beating" thing? Maybe book 9.

9 - Ultamite coolness on Mat's part. Ultimate coolness on Rand's part. Won't go into it (no spoilers!).

I'm just ranting, but this is my opinion see?

I think that Book 1 and 6 were the best books, but as for endings, Winter's Heart has it for me. It was so boring to me for almost HALF the book, that I had to stop and reread it, because I got confused from skipping things. The end more than made up for it though. I actually felt dizzy after I had finished the book. Right now I'm re-reading the series again, because for some reason I forget things and find myself so confused...well, anyway. Winter's Heart got my vote :-)

I love it! It makes me wan't to pick up a sword and fight in the name of the Dragon. I get chills up and down my spine every time that I read it, no matter how many times i read it.

I also liked Winters Heart. That had a lot of different new things happen in it. I almost fell out of my seat when I saw Mat was back. He had been gone for so long that I was begining to doubt that he would be coming back. RJ had bloody keep Mat in the story for now on, or I'll do something crazy. I'll hunt him down tie him up, and buy something no one is able to stand, A dosen different Barney sing along tapes, and force him to listen to everyone of them, over and over again, untill he can recite every single word of all the songs.:D ;)

Don't lock the thread please mods. There's no broken HTML.

I loved the ending to Winter's Heart, it was the first ending I had where I couldn't go and just buy the new book, and the suspense killed me! Plus we got to see some more of linked circles in action.

Mine gotta be Lord of Chaos. Dumai's Wells is the best battle in the book, and you gotta love Aes Sedai getting their ass kicked. And you know what's the best part - no Egwene, Elayne or any Sea Folk.

It's a toss up between Dumais Wells, or Arthur Hawking kicking ass at the end of 2.

It's has to be the Great Hunt. It gave me goosebumps when i read it and realised that history was being made and remade... Awesomeness.

I agree you have Perrin carring the Dragon Banner, Mat blowing the Horn of Valere, and Rand riding side by side with Arthur Hawkwing. Plus i just love the converstion he has with Rand. Easily one of the best in the whole series.

you know, i got really involved with that particular scene. But there was another i got even more involved :umm: the scene where Rand and Egwene agreed they would never be together... For some reason i got all emotional..

me = sad and pathetic.

i totally understand, unless i'm rereading sometimes i forget just how close rand and egwene were at the start of the series. It really is one of the sadder parts of the series. The one that still gets me though is when Perrin comes home to find his family killed. Easily that saddest part of the series to me

yeah, it almost destroyed him. But that conversation between Rand and Egwene is one i'll never forget. Rand and Egwene really were close, it's hard to believe that, reading later into the series.
