I don't think most people realize that the borderlands are based upon the Asian nations of our own world. It's quite obvious if you look closer at his descriptions of customs and physical likeness. You've done a wonderful job of capturing the "Asian-ness", Sarah!!!

This is *far* too pretty to be Faile :) It's absolutely gorgeous, even as a stand-alone original piece. And you can actually see her independance and strength through the picture, and I thought it was a beautiful job. I'm praying for a Tuon picture now, and would love to see how you would do a "black porcelain doll" as she was called in the books. :P

In the 'big white book' there is a picture of the Seanchan, and they were asian-looking. I always pictured the Saldeans to be more Indian-like.

I think it is pretty, but I always imagined Saldea as the Middle Eastern/Arabic nations, which also sport the tilted eyes and black hair. The descriptions and names make me lean towards that.

Totally Faile! Maybe a little bigger nose but still awesome. Other people have said she looks seanchan, but every Seanchan seems to look different. You know how Artur Hawkwing ruled every nation or whatever? Wouldn't that mean people from every nation would live there? I think there like a melting pot type country!
